Former Weber State and New Mexico running back , Damon Bankston comes into the Giants as an undrafted free agent, and he has all of the talents that you would want from a dynamic Swiss Army knife at, at, at running back.
He has an ability to be a thousand-yard rusher, we saw that at Weber State.
He has an an opportunity to get big chunks of yards and with small amounts of carries.
We saw that in New Mexico, when he averaged over 5.6 yards per per rush, and he's a high-value member as a pass receiving running back, and he offers special teams upside as a kick returner.
Can he do anything to break into what seems like a stronghold with the top 3 running backs on this team?
We know that, you know, Cam Scaterbo is a star, he's not going anywhere.
We know that Tyrone Tracy is going to have every opportunity to be a quality 2 behind him .
We know that everyone seems to really like Devin Singletary, and Devin Singletary has embraced his role here as the running back 3.
But he doesn't offer that special teams prowess that a lot of teams are looking for.
And with the advent of a fullback in Patrick Ricard, can you afford to have 3 running backs that don't do anything for you on special teams?
That's where Bankston can come in at, even more than Noah Gray, and And Turbo Miller, I think that Bankston's versatility as a pass receiver, his explosiveness as a running back, and a kick returner could give him an edge if he gets the opportunity to prove it in training camp, and that will be difficult when you're starting off as the running back 6.
He could find himself on the practice squad, and maybe if there's injuries, work his way onto the 53 man roster.
