Things seem to be going swimmingly for the Chargers' offense this offseason.
If you ask their quarterback Justin Herbert, Herbert had high praise recently for his new offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel, and he's excited for what's to come.
I had never met with him prior to meeting with him, but obviously I knew so much about him.
We had so much respect for him and knew that he's a very talented and smart coach.
And, the first few meetings were awesome.
We talked, more than just football, and it was awesome.
I could tell that we were going to get along really quickly , really well, and it's been a lot of fun playing for him so far.

First down for you, can Mike McDaniel bring out the best version of Justin Herbert in 2026?
Oh yeah, I think so.
I was on, uh, Peter Schrager's podcast yesterday.
You get an invite for that?
Not yet, but I am sure Schrager hour .
I was only on for a half hour, but you know, a lot, and we talked about some of the most fascinating, uh, people in the NFL to meet.
Mike McDaniel was on my list, uh, for this upcoming season.
Fascinating to see what he's gonna do as the offensive coordinator.
Now, number one key, don't.
Lose both cornerstone tackles, but here's the other part of it, and this was Herbert yesterday saying, quote, mechanically, it's a little different timing, making sure you're timed up with the routes.
It doesn't take too long because in years past I've been feet parallel with each other, right foot forward, left foot forward, basically just understanding how McDaniel wants the drops timed up with the routes, and he went, listen, he's learning new footwork.
I, I believe he can because look at this footwork he had to learn last year.
Just running for his life for the entire season.
Remember he got the 1st place MVP vote?
Uh, I'll be frank, he got my 5th place MVP vote because without him escaping and making chicken salad out of, you know what, I don't.
What the Chargers season would have looked like last year.
So now structure with a with a coach that knows how to work your footwork and to make sure that he's helping you in every facet.
Oh yeah, the answer's a hard yes on this.
I, I would agree with Mike, but as much as I love the other Mike, Mike McDaniel.
I don't know, Jamie.
Every single time I see a picture of Justin Herbert, he's with his girlfriend, she may bring the best out in him, the love of God.
What a life Justin Herbert has.

Is her name Madison Beer?

I want to say that is not her real name.

Justin Herbert, there's like one thing missing.
He's, he's 6'6, he's incredibly wealthy, he's got this glorious hair, he's got this rocket arm.
He has this lovely public relationship.
He's got Jim Harbaugh.
He's got Mike McDaniel.
Everything's there except like, let's, I mean, the great looking couple, good for both of them.
I applaud it.
Yeah let's get some playoff wins now, JH.

I, it's, it's just that's all that's separating him from like, actually I think maybe the perfect life.
So I'm rooting for him and the Mike McDaniel front.
I always say he's part of the Norv Turner All-Stars who are those great coaches who are just better fit as coordinators, and I think they got head coach quality in him as a coordinator.
I think that I, you always know I. I think highly of the Chargers, Jamie.
I think as high as I ever have about them.
