Rookie of the Year situation.
You know, JJ Weatherholte and Sal Stewart are obviously the, the big names that people are gonna be talking about, but Carson Benge has been fantastic ever since, you know, the end of April when he got off to that slow start and things started to change for him.
He's been absolutely incredible, and is getting seemingly better each and every day.
And Nolan McLain is a guy that just simply is not talked about enough when it comes to the Rookie of the Year, conversation.
Like, right now he's, like, an afterthought, but where we stand right now, Nolan McLain's 3.21 ERA, it's seventh amongst NL starting pitchers.
His 148 innings is eighth am- in the NL, and his 168 strikeouts is fifth in the NL.
This is trending towards a 180 plus inning, 200 plus strikeout guy that may post an ERA in the low to mid threes.
If he doesn't win, he sure as heck should be right neck and neck with the other guys.
Yeah, and it was a really weird field.
For the longest time you had Weatherholte as not a runaway favorite, but a big favorite.
I mean, he was, like, minus 160 in a lot of places.
And then now it's almost a pick between him and Sal Stewart at a little bit of plus money, and then Carson Benge has started to close the gap a little bit, where he's at about plus 600 behind them.
But McLain's the most interesting one here, Joe, because he can surge so quickly after each start.
Now, of course, it can go the other way if he gets blown up in a start, but he's been pitching so well for so long, even when he doesn't look right, he kinda is getting through it, where before his last start, he was almost off the board at about plus 2200.
After that start, he's now 12 to one plus 1200.
So you're looking at two more good starts from Nolan McLain, and he might be right in a pick 'em with Weatherholte, Sal Stewart, and we'll see what Carson Benge continues to do as well.
So this has gotten really interesting really fast
