Ohio State Falls 30-18 at USC, Playoff Margin for Error Is Gone

Ohio State's playoff hopes took a hit in a 30-18 loss to USC that dropped the Buckeyes to 6-2. It is the first time since 2011 they have two losses before November. Wins over Iowa and Indiana keep Ryan Day's team in the College Football Playoff mix, but another regular-season defeat would keep them out, and Oregon and Northwestern are still on the schedule. Starter Julian Sayin is likely out for the season, and true freshman Luke Fahey struggled to push the ball downfield. The defense gave up big plays, including Trent Mosely's 69-yard touchdown and Mark Bowman's 70-yard catch and run. Jeremiah Smith had 10 catches for 83 yards and a late score.
