Mike, I'll, I'll ask you first because I know back when we talked about the whole Leo Carlson offer sheet drama, you know, one of your biggest takeaways from the whole situation was these GMs have to start locking up these younger players early before they get to that point where they are eligible to receive offer sheets.
So obviously the Sharks have done that with Macklin Celebrini.
What do you think of this extension for both sides?
The price of poker has gone up and clearly the Leo Carlson offer sheet has sprung a lot of GMs and agents into action.
I mean, you saw the Bedard contract at 15 million and now, you know, Celebrini making 800,000 more than Leo Carlson on a five-year deal makes perfect sense because he had 115 points last season and was arguably the best player for Canada at the Olympics, better than McDavid.
I mean, I think a lot of people thought that.
So it's smart on the part of Mike Greer to get him locked up right now.
Don't even risk going to that final year.
Don't even, you know, tempt his agent to field offer sheets because I'm sure 31 other teams would line up to offer sheet Macklin Celebrini.
Now, that being said, I just am curious looking forward at what Quinn Hughes is going to get as a restricted free agent with, you know, he's got a year left in his current contract, what Cale Makar is going to get.
And, you know, to talk about Jim, you know, maybe next year what Connor McDavid, if he decides to sign a long-term extension with the Oilers, what he will get.
I think the number is going to keep going up and up and up and there's nothing to stop it.
