PCA Makes MVP Statement With Walk-Off Over White Sox
Pete Crow-Armstrong delivered a two-homer, four-hit performance in the Crosstown Classic, capped by a walk-off blast in the 10th inning that gave the Cubs a much-needed win over the White Sox and strengthened his NL MVP case.

The Crosstown Classic just continues to deliver.
It's been a crazy season series between the Cubs and the White Sox, and on Monday night, it was Pete Carr Armstrong night at Wrigley Field.
PCA putting the Cubs on his back, delivering a win for the Cubs with a walk-off home run, and really just a statement game for Pete Carr Armstrong to announce to the world, "Hey, I am the NL MVP.
I know there's been some speculation, me or Ohtani.
I know I've fallen behind in the race recently a little bit, but make no mistake about it, I'm still the MVP."
And he proved it on Monday night.
Facing Luis Castillo, PCA hit the first pitch Castillo threw for a home run, early one-nothing Cubs lead.
He then singled, stole a base, got in the scoring position, drew a walk.
He came up in the bottom of the eighth with two outs and nobody on.
He lined a base hit, then ran it into a double with his speed and put another runner in scoring position, the tying run.
There wasn't a single pitcher comfortable facing PCA.
Every time he came up, the Cubs threatened to score.
Every time he was on base, he put the pressure on, and two times he came up, he hit a home run, including in the bottom of the tenth, when the White Sox decided to send out rookie Hagan Smith to pitch to Pete Carr Armstrong.
Walk-off two-run home run, sending Wrigley Field into a frenzy, and the Cubs win.
Now, it might be difficult when you look at what Shohei Ohtani did on the mound for the Dodgers this year to make an argument for PCA over Ohtani, but the eye test tells you that Pete Carr Armstrong puts this Cubs team on his back, especially in clutch big time situations.
With the game on the line, he's going to come through, and that was Monday night.
He put the team on his back.
The eye test tells you that PCA is more valuable to the Cubs' overall team success than Ohtani is to the Dodgers, because every time he takes the field, he has a critical impact in the game.
So Monday night, an iconic Crosstown Classic moment for the Cubs and a statement by PCA that he is, in fact, the NL MVP.
