The Penguins need to keep Ryan Shea around.

Video Transcript

What direction do you think that Kyle Dubas is gonna take this team in, and what are their priorities gonna be in the off-season?

Do you think that he's had to adjust or had to kinda shift anything in, in light of the season they just had?

I mean, the expectation was, and we talked about it r- in September and October, that they were gonna be about 32nd place, and them making the playoffs and doing what they did is remarkable.

But I think you have to put in the, put it in the perspective of, you know, they were a team that sort of hodgepodged it.

They added guys like Mantha on short-term deals.

They acquired Skinner in the deal for Tristan Jarry.

So, I mean, I don't know how many of the unrestricted free agents other than Malkin will be brought back.

I mean, Malkin obviously is a future Hall of Famer.

He's part of that trio.

They're gonna wanna bring him back, but if he ex- is expecting to make big money, I don't think they're gonna do that, because I think they wanna go out in a limited free agent pool and add players.

What I do think Dubas is gonna do, he's got some prospects that I think are ready, are pushing for NHL time.

You got Owen Pickering on defense.

You've got Sergei Murashev, who I think will back up Spilovs as their goaltender, and then Rutger McGroarty, in a limited amount of games in the American Hockey League, did very well.

So I think the young guys are gonna push for time.

They're gonna move some of the free agents out, and they're gonna be big players in free agency for particular players.
