Phillies Likely to Cut Ties With One of These Two Players
The Philadelphia Phillies seem likely to part ways with one of these two players soon.

So the Phillies are in a very good position here at the All-Star break.
They are sitting at fifty-four and forty-three.
They're forty-five and twenty-four since their nine and 19 start, and they're obviously legitimate playoff contenders here in the National League, and they should make the postseason.
But we also cannot ignore the fact that there are still some pretty significant holes with this team that must be addressed before the trade deadline.
And perhaps most glaring of all is the outfield.
Outside of Brandon Marsh, Philadelphia has gotten very limited production from its outfield this season.
Justin Crawford's in his rookie year, and he's been, you know, much better for the last month or so, but he still has a six sixty-six OPS on the season overall and has been pretty shaky defensively in center field.
Now in right, the Phillies started the year with Dallas Garcia.
He had a five ninety-nine OPS before a shoulder injury ended his season.
Now they're going with Gabriel Rinconas, and Derek Hill is platooned in right.
So one of those two guys, according to Charlotte Barnes of The Athletic, will probably no longer be with the team at some point in the next few weeks.
And, you know, considering the Phillies are almost certainly going to add an outfielder between now and the All-Star deadline, that should not come as much of a surprise.
Now, Hill has actually performed pretty well for them with an eight ninety OPS over a very small sample size of fifty-five plate appearances.
But he probably has the edge over Rinconas just because of the fact that he has experience.
He's performed better here in twenty twenty-six.
Rinconas has a five twenty-five OPS.
He's done, you know, next to nothing for Philadelphia since he's been up.
So I do expect the Phillies to keep Derek Hill on the roster here going forward.
Who they acquire at the trade deadline, though, could be the main sticking point, because right now there's not a whole lot of bulk off they're going to be selling, and it's also not like the Phillies have a big treasure trove of assets down in their farm system to trade.
And, you know, the less teams there are that are gonna be selling, the higher the prices of those players available will be.
So very interesting to see what happens here.
But yes, one of Rinconas or Hill will almost surely not be with the team a few weeks from now.
And I think it's pretty clear who that would be.
Almost certainly would be Rinconas, given the fact that Hill has produced very well since coming over to Philadelphia from the White Sox.
