he said, "How much do you value rules like the 40-20, top three seed, when it all comes down to your judgment of deciphering a championship team?"
I don't reference it, but that 40-20 is- 'Cause yeah- Yeah he said right here that all the champions except two since the NBA was formed- Mm-hmm were top three seeds and w- and meet that qualification.
I don't, I've never really thought about it, honestly.
I know somebody just hit it a couple days ago, but I, I didn't look at him like, "Yep, that's a contender now."
Right.
I feel like I'm all I'm just gonna determine if you're a contender based on the eye test, not the actual record of it all.
Yeah.
so I don't think about those two things at all.
Yeah, honestly, I didn't know about this thing until recently- Shout out Phil Jackson, yeah this year.
Yeah, so, like, the fact that it's actually factual and this actually works is actually crazy.
Do you know the two teams that didn't do this?

Who would've started off the season and made It feel like some '70s team.

And I wonder how much they account for, like, is it a percentage thing for, like, the lockout year?

He said, "If you could take any non-championship team from the 2000s or 2010s and add them to this era, who would it be?"

Yeah, or maybe you just seen a team from that era that maybe didn't fit but now they would fit more in this era.

I was thinking about the Orlando Magic team that got to the finals 'cause they were one of the f- few teams to run, like, a, a traditional three as a four and shoot a bunch of threes, and now if we increase their volume to match 2026 standards, they'd probably be even better with Dwight Howard down low.

I actually liked Steve Nash on the broadcast the other, last night.
I thought he was really good at, like, breaking down what both teams are thinking offensively.

Just from, like, a, a, a fun standpoint, I would like to see just how that Miami Heat team from back in the day with Bron, Wade, and Bosh would just stack up against the NBA today.
It's just they felt like they was kinda running the league.

I thought when, Nets got Ben Simmons, I thought that it was- I thought it was GGs, man.
I thought KD, Kyrie, Ben Simmons, and then Joe Harris.

That team with James Harden, Kyrie, and Kevin Durant.

That makes no sense they had, what, one playoff series win together?

And so that, that's gotta be the answer.
That's like- Foot on the line 'cause they had I think that one of their first games playing completely together was against the Bulls, and that was when the Bulls had the great start to the season, and they smoked them at the United Center, and they c- they generated open look after open look after open look.
Three offensive juggernauts.
And then obviously it didn't go anywhere, but that, that's gotta be the one, man.

That team had potential to win two, three championships in my mind.
I'm thinking back to that Philly team where Kawhi hit the shot over them, 'cause they had a stacked team with- Yes, they did Jimmy, Joel Embiid, Toby.
They had JJ Redick there.
Like, they had a stacked team that year.
And then also, I was probably thinking about just one of those Rockets teams that never really got over the hump, but they got super close.
Mm-hmm.
I don't know how high we were, or just me specifically, on the small ball team and how we thought that was gonna win, but James Harden was just such a good player, you thought he would get over the hump at least once.
If- he didn't.
Yeah.
But it's also funny that we had two teams that had James Harden on them.
And also I think- What was I saying about James?
When they got Chris Paul- He was almost there I thought it was, I thought it was gonna be, like, another level.
and that team was still really good, but, like, he got hurt in the, in the conference finals- when they was playing the Warriors, and, like-It, it's just so unfortunate that he got hurt and then they go on that crazy shooting streak where they missed 27 straight threes.
And you just know if Chris Paul was on the court, he's helping alleviate a lot of that.
He would've got him a mid-range bucket, wouldn't he though?

No, he would've definitely gotten something else.

It's not unique, but like, I, I hate, and s- I don't know how to explain it.
I like the players that think things through.

But like a, like the Dirk Whites of the world, they just feel like they're thinking two steps ahead.

Well, that's why you love Chris Paul.

Chris Paul was always two steps ahead of the defense.

To co- to go into, or like to add onto that, it's kinda like feel for the game.
But yeah, I don't think that's unique, but I like, I like players that just play, you can tell play off natural instinct and just make natural basketball plays and it's, it's, it's like that's just how you play it.

It's, it's not hard.
It's like it's supposed to be a simple, fun, children's basketball game at the end of the day.
Just go out there and have fun, and I think you'll see a lot of these players that just kinda like can do the natural way.
I, I just enjoy watching it that way.
I love a big that can run the floor and seal the smaller defenders early.
I think that's one of those things that kinda just 'Cause now you just then created two different mismatches where now the other opposing big is now guarding a perimeter player, and now you got a small on you.
Now the defense is really like already in scrambles.
If you get your do- job done early, you kinda already put the defense in a pigeonhole that where they gotta kinda make something happen.
I like that answer.
I got And wait, I, I got one, actually.
I like the talent for players that don't really get rotational minutes at all.
They'll go 20 games without playing, and then they'll come in and have like 10, 15 minutes of like really good impact.
You're like, "Damn.
Where has he kinda been?"
And it's like they might not play the next 15, 20 games, but they always ready.
I love those type of guys.
