Raiders DT Jonah Laulu Off-Season Football Training_ Sharpening My Game
Video Transcript
What do you think's been the biggest improvement you've made in your game this offseason?
Uh, I think this offseason I did a lot more football, uh, rather than focusing on just running and.
Uh, conditioning, I think I did a lot more football specific training, uh, which I think will transition to the field, you know, just working on my fundamentals and technique because, you know, that's what's I feel like most important is, I mean, obviously, you know, you're gonna, you have to be in shape, obviously, but, uh, I think, uh, improving, you know, sharp sharp.
Covering my sword basically and you know becoming a better football player is is what I need the most and so um just literally working out uh 4 days a week doing football drills uh me and Quitty we were out there 6:30 or yeah 6:30 in the morning working out at a park literally like a dog park, uh, with a strength coach we had Chris Peace and, uh, literally like it'd be old retired, uh, folks walking their dogs and we'd just be out there stretching doing D-line stuff and.
I mean, I think it's definitely gonna transition, uh, to out here, you know, because, uh, that's the biggest thing I needed to work on was just my, you know, get my hands, my footwork right and make sure everything connects.
There's another guy that you've been playing alongside a lot of in those starting reps like Taka Hemingway.
Obviously you were here for his rookie year.
Can you just talk about what you've noticed from him from last year to this year, the progression that's caused him to play alongside you in that role.
Oh man, uh, yeah, don't be surprised when you hear Tonka's name a lot this season.
I mean, I've known since he, he came that, you know, he, he had some juice to him, and, uh, I always told him he was a baller.
I already knew, already knew he was a baller.
Everybody knew that, and I mean.
I literally, I remember, I think the first practice we had in the spring I told him I was like, you know, I can't wait to see what you do this year.
Like I'm excited to see the player he become because, uh, we always knew he could go and, uh, you know, me and Tonker are, I'd say similar, uh, just as far as we know, we're pretty savvy in the past, but yeah.
Tonk has like a, he's just really smooth with with his with his pass rush and even the run, you know, he doesn't weigh that much but you know you would think he he weighs more than he does just how good and strong his hands are in the run as well as the pass.
So yeah, don't, don't be surprised when you see uh Tonk out there uh making plays.
