Recent Surprise UFC Newcomer Battles Unbeaten Foe at April 4 Apex Card

The UFC added a bantamweight bout to UFC Fight Night 272 on April 4 in Las Vegas, underscoring movement across the 135-pound field. Ethyn Ewing (9-2) will meet unbeaten Rafael Estevam (14-0) at the UFC Apex, returning to bantamweight while Estevam moves up from flyweight. The matchup follows Ewing's upset of Malcolm Wellmaker at UFC 322 in November and Estevam's three straight decision wins since earning a UFC deal via Dana White's Contender Series. Estevam's previous flyweight weight misses prompted the shift, while Ewing's win marked Wellmaker's first professional loss. The card currently lists 11 bouts, including Virna Jandiroba vs. Tabatha Ricci, Edmen Shahbazyan vs. Jun Yong Park, and Tofiq Musayev vs. Samuel Sanches, with no headliner announced.
