I think it would be warranted because, you know, they've, they've come close to the playoffs a couple of times in the past few years, but they've never made it, which means we're not seeing any progress.
Like, if they miss the playoffs again by a couple of points or even one point, then you're basically where you were two years ago, three years ago.
And simply put, like, this is a team with a brand-new arena.
Like, Little Caesars Arena is only a few years old.
they've never seen playoff hockey, and I would have to assume that the Ilitch family would like a little bit of extra revenue, to go back into the coffers, for, Little Caesars Arena, and simply to reward the fans that have stuck by the Red Wings, during the Izer plan.
But the problem is this is It's not a tough team to play against, and, you know, they keep re-signing guys that, from an outside perspective, don't have a lot of value.
Like, if you look at Ben Chiarot, who has a new contract kicking in this summer, he's getting crushed five on five.
And maybe he plays tough minutes, fair enough, but that doesn't happen to other, quote unquote, "top four defensemen" in the league.
And, you know, Yzerman didn't do a lot at the deadline.
He brought in Justin Faulk.
sure, I guess that helps a little bit.
But if you look at all the teams around Detroit, they're just, they're just not keeping up with the Joneses.
Yeah.
It, it's funny 'cause Detroit was a top three team, I think, heading into the deadline, so at the time you could maybe make peace with the fact that Yzerman didn't make, you know, wholesale changes and wasn't a big-time buyer.
At the same time, you know, we've said this before, in hindsight, it would've been a great move for Detroit to go after someone like Vincent Trocheck from the New York Rangers.

maybe dip their toe and try to get a Robert Thomas from St. Louis.
