Report: Canucks Ask Maple Leafs For Permission To Speak To Shane Doan

As the Toronto Maple Leafs navigate a front-office shuffle, the Vancouver Canucks have reportedly inquired about hiring special advisor Shane Doan for their vacant position.

Well, I, I do like the one-on-one meetings because something I've been thinking about, with the Maple Leafs this season is, you know, okay, so you have a s- we're in a salary cap era, but there's no salary cap on executives, right?

So, you know, a team like Toronto has really, used that, that's It's not a loophole, but they've used that advantage, the fact that they have so much money, to bring in a lot of different minds at the executive, level, at the management level.

Maybe there's too many cooks.

Like, maybe there are too many people, you know, with those, like, assistant to the GM, or assistant GM roles.

Like, maybe they need to slim down so they have more of a focus on what they are and, and what their strengths are.

I You know, we've seen Keith Pelley be bold, parting ways with Brendan Shanahan, but I would like to see Treliving and Berube come back, but with maybe fewer people around them, and just have a focus where they say, "This is what our team is."

And, you know, guys like Nylander and Knies I feel should be untouchable.

especially Knies, because he's still young, and there's so much potential.

But I think they have to figure out what this team's strengths are again and sort of hew to that.

It's funny, to your point, like, we, we used to joke.

Like, they have so many people in their management box that at one time they actually had to install a riser, like bleacher style seating, because what you said.

Like, everyone from, like, Haley Wickenheiser to Shane Doan to Brandon Pridham, and then they've got an analytics department that probably, you know, dwarfs the entire division's, analytics department.

And, you know, you're right, more doesn't, hasn't equaled more success.
