Report: Montgomery, Marks may split carries
Patrick Daugherty and Denny Carter evaluate David Montgomery as a fantasy option following reports that the Texans may have more of a committee alongside Woody Marks.

After the Texans acquired David Montgomery from the Detroit Lions, Denny Carter, there was an assumption that he'd be something of a set and forget starter, both for the Texans and for fantasy managers.
You know, David Montgomery, he's a solid case at this point.
We weren't expecting him to become an RB1.
He has been being drafted as a really solid RB2, though, kind of like the RB18 to 22 range.
There have been murmurs of late that Woody Marks, his role might be bigger as a sophomore than people were expecting.
After David Montgomery arrived in Houston, and the Houston Chronicle reported this week it could be close to a 50/50 split.
Maybe not 50/50, but much closer than people are expecting.

How do you feel about Woody Marks?
Yeah.
At RB21, I am a little queasy about take, taking David Montgomery if this report is true.
And, you know, we have some reason to believe that.
Woody Marks has drawn a lot of praise from beat writers and coaches, in training camp and throughout the off-season.
He's played well in the pre-season in limited snaps.
So I do think that there's something to this.
I will say David Montgomery could kinda save himself here if he does, get the locked in goal line role in this offense.
And this is a team that has been very run heavy inside the red zone over the past couple years.
So I'm not discounting Montgomery as a locked in RB2, but it, he could be somewhat of a thin play if Woody Marks works his way into the rotation as much as we think he might.
Yeah.
I think what this is more than anything is just a reminder that David Montgomery does lack ceiling.
I think the floor is gonna be maintained, 'cause even if they are loving Woody Marks, even if he's having one of the best off-seasons they've ever seen, it stands to reason David, David Montgomery will remain the goal line back.
But maybe there'll be a few more twists and turns here in the Houston backfield between now and week one.
