It's funny, I asked Tage Thompson about that.
Like, Alex Tuck didn't talk tonight.
He was in the dressing room, but apparently he was off limits.
And, you know, he obviously didn't look happy.
But I asked Tage Thompson, like, hey, do you expect to see Alex Tuck in a Buffalo jersey next season?
And he's like, I hope so.
And I think that is the hope in Buffalo that, you know, Tuck will be back.
But to Mike's point, you know, this is a very, very thin UFA class.
And Alex Tuck, if the reports are true, he's going to be looking at something north of $10 million a year.
I think he's priced himself out of Buffalo.
I could see, you know, another team taking a run at this guy because how many power forwards are there in the NHL that can put up 30 goals a year?
So he's going to be a valuable asset.
But, you know, this was a magical year for Buffalo.
And, you know, they are going to probably lose some pieces in the summer.
Well, I'll just say this because we've got, what, six weeks until July 1st and free agency.
The Sabres had that amount of time to try to get him signed to a contract.
And if they find out that he's still sticking to the fact that he wants to get as much as Adrian Kempe got on his deal with Los Angeles, same draft, same age, comparable stats, I think there's a possibility of a Mitch Marner type of situation where he's signed to an eight-year contract and a sign and trade type of deal because the new CBA, the most he can get is six years, whereas he can get eight years before July 1st and some team like Seattle or Utah who's got a lot of cap space who's looking for impact veterans, I could see him do that.
Now, it's not out of the question he comes back to Buffalo, but Terry Pagula and Yarmouk Kekelainen are going to have to open up the pocketbook and start the salary with a 10.
And we have not heard any willingness from them to go that far for Alex Tuck.
