Revisiting The Kings Best Draft Picks Of The 2020's
The 2026 NHL Entry Draft is just days away, and the Los Angeles Kings own the 17th pick in the draft. As they prepare to make a very important selection, let's revisit some of best draft picks the Kings have made in the 2020's.

Mike, do you think that LA is gonna pick a new captain this season or do you think they wait?
could it be a veteran, someone like Drew Doughty or do you think they'll go with someone who has more kinda long-term upside for the franchise?
The only way they don't go with Doughty, 'cause it, it's very similar to like Patrice Bergeron in, in Boston and then they handed it off to Marchand.
I mean, it would sort of be a slap in the face if they don't give it to Doughty being the player that he is.
But he's only got one year left on the contract and maybe he doesn't want it.
Maybe they wanna go with a younger player like a Quinton Byfield or, or Mikey Anderson, somebody who's signed long-term and h- has a future in the organization.
But I would think that they would default to Doughty, and the only way he doesn't get it is if he doesn't want it.
John, do you agree with that?
Yeah, I mean, like, it has to be Doughty, but also, like, is Doughty with one year on his deal gonna wanna take up the mantle from his longtime teammate and, and friend in Kopitar for a year?
You know, maybe more than that.
You know, we don't know.
But like Mike said, I-- it's gonna be if he wants it or not.
someone I thought of when, you know, you were posing the question was someone like Adrian Kempe.
I think that could be, you know, more of a longer term thing than just, you know, give it to Doughty for a year and then do the same thing over again the next summer.
so I, I would watch Kempe, if it's not gonna be Doughty.
