Ronda Rousey, Jake Paul react to UFC’s timing of Conor McGregor announcement
The Ultimate Fighting Championship drew attention Saturday when CEO Dana White announced Conor McGregor's return fight against Max Holloway during Francis Ngannou's walkout at Most Valuable Promotions' MMA debut in Los Angeles. Ronda Rousey called the timing "kind of catty" and said it acknowledged MVP MMA as competition. Jake Paul mocked the UFC's counterprogramming, while MVP co-founder Nakisa Bidarian welcomed McGregor's return and floated a potential Paul–McGregor bout. Rousey defeated Gina Carano in 17 seconds at the event. The card drew stars including Nate Diaz and Mike Perry, and Netflix carried the broadcast. Bidarian described Paul–McGregor as a major possible fight outside Paul–Mike Tyson.
