Let me take you to a little spot called Golden Bell on the course.
The 12th hole at Augusta National.
On a back nine that is full of, like, apex predators that you've gotta take on, 12 is like a garden with a venomous six-foot copperhead in the middle of this little patch of garden, right?
And you've just gotta get through it.
That's all you gotta do.
You gotta get through it.
And every- But, but if that thing bites you, you're dead.
Like, if 12 bites you, it has killed more people in Masters history than anyone.
It is venomous, and you are dead in 60 seconds.
The goal there, right, for everybody is just tiptoe through the garden.
Do not arouse the snake, and just get through it, right?
Rory, instead of tiptoeing through the garden, found the snake, killed the snake.
155 yards.
What has been the, the venom and the kryptonite for Rory McIlroy so often in his career is terrible wedge play, the inability to take spin off the golf ball with a short iron, the inability to, you know, hit these three-quarter, half shots, right?
And not swing full board everything.
That's Rory's venom, and he conquered all of that on one hole.
He hit a nine-iron 150 yards.
You and I can hit a nine-iron 150 He barely s- He three-quartered that thing.
Yeah.
He hit a cut versus his normal draw.
He took spin off the golf ball so that it bounced forward from 150 yards, about 12 feet forward, landing on the green.
He took on that pin.
He made birdie.
He killed the snake.
That was the moment that he took control of the Masters.
