Pgw, eye on the mound of course, is Christopher Sanchez, and what he did tonight was scintillating, as usual.
And if you're the opposition, you can only hope you can score a run.
You can only hope you can get on base, for goodness sake.
He really was extraordinary today.
You see the slider working.
I mean, he had two strikeouts on the slider.
He had five strikeouts on the changeup.
two, two punch outs on the sinker.
This guy is developing into the best pitcher in baseball in a lot of ways.
I mean, he was dotting his fastball.
We talked about it early.
He was not really throwing his sinker where he wanted to on the inside part of the plate for the last couple of outings.
But today, he was extraordinary, and that puts the right-handers on their heels.
They have to look for that, you know, 95, 96 on the inside part, and then he drops that lethal changeup on guys, right, like you see right there, and they just have no chance, man.
They can't distinguish that pitch from the other, and he just made a lot of guys look silly today.
Really great outing.
And for him, having a blister early in this, early in this game, and to overcome that- Yeah pretty extraordinary.
Look at these numbers against the Pirates.
Two starts, 16 innings pitched, nine hits, 22 strikeouts, just two walks, and 10 and 3 overall, and a 2 ERA in 18 starts this season.
His ERA comes down.
We talked about this in pre-game live, Ruben, which was in two of his three preceding starts, he had given up a total of nine runs, four against Milwaukee and then five against Washington in his last start before tonight.
And there was something back there, at least in my head, that was like, "Mm," you know, and he proved it tonight.
Nothing to prove really, but he showed tonight he's the guy that we always thought he was.
What's his home ERA?
I mean, unbelievable.
Home ERA is 0.86.
He is seven and one in 11 games started.
He has 73 innings pitched, given up just seven runs.
He has 18 walks and s- 85 strikeouts.
That's insane.
Those numbers are amazing.
0.86 ERA.
