Scotland All But Out of the World Cup After Brazilian Battering
Scotland lost heavily against Brazil in their final match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, a result that will almost certainly see the Scots head home at the first stage. Elsewhere, we saw the final matches of Groups A, B, and C, with some surprise teams making the knockouts.

It has begun, guys.
The final matches of the group stages have started.
The first three groups, A, B, and C, all concluded last night over in North America.
But who is through to the round of 32, and who might be making it?
Who also is already out of the competition?
Let's dive into our full review of all six games which were on yesterday in the FIFA World Cup.
Day 14 of the tournament, two weeks into this competition already.
Wow, that has flown by.
And we'll start with one of the co-hosts, Canada.
Their final game was against Switzerland, and unfortunately, they got their first loss of the tournament.
I mean, not a huge surprise in all honesty.
I mean, Canada on paper, not as good a team as Switzerland.
It's fair to be said Switzerland getting their act together after a huge disappointment in their first match against Qatar.
They got the job done here, although it was a little unconvincing to be totally honest with you.
Ruben Vargas got the opening goal of the game just after half time, and then it was Man Zamby who made it 2-0 to the Swiss.
Promise David, though, very much put promise into Canada's prospects by getting a goal back after 76 minutes.
Canada, in truth, should have got at least a draw here, but Switzerland were very professional.
They did exactly what they needed to do.
This is the difference between a side that has only qualified for a few international tournaments compared to one that pretty much qualifies for them every other year.
They always make it to the Euros.
They always make it to the World Cup.
And they usually make it into the knockouts as well.
And thanks to that result, they won the group as well.
Canada, they get second in the group, which is still really impressive.
That's exactly where they wanna be.
That's a really good effort from them overall, it must be said.
Highlight, of course, of the group stage for them, that 6-0 thrashing of Qatar.
Qatar suffered another defeat in their final game as well.
They lost against Bosnia.
Unfortunately for them, that means that they are out of the competition.
They are last in their group.
Bosnia, though, have a good chance of getting through to the round of 32 in my opinion.
First time in their history making the knockouts of an international tournament, I think in total.
Definitely in the World Cup, anyway.
I don't think they made the Euros recently, or at least not the knockouts of them anyway.
A 3-1 victory for Bosnia.
It was absolutely dominant to be honest with you.
I think 3-1 actually kinda flattered Qatar to be totally honest with you.
Alija Begovic, Albrekt with an own goal, and also Makhmikh was the final one there, just basically poking home from inside the box.
Went straight at the goalkeeper, but it came through a Qatari player's legs.
Unfortunately, he could not react in time and could not keep the ball out of the net.
Al Haydos got one back for Qatar but, like I said, Bosnia dominant in this one.
And as Qatar continued to chase the game, 'cause they knew realistically they'd have to win.
A draw would not be enough for them unfortunately with this one.
They knew pretty much that they had to win this and they had to go for it, and unfortunately they lost it as a result.
Then we had the games in Group C, Morocco and Haiti, and also Scotland and Brazil.
I'll talk about the Morocco-Haiti one first because this was more interesting.
Morocco won this 4-2, which isn't a surprise, but Haiti actually led in this one twice.
I mean, they scored with their two only shots on target.
Incredible stuff from the Haitians here.
They did so well to take the lead.
An own goal from Yassine Bounou after 10 minutes.
And they held it for a long time, held it for half an hour.
But that man, Ashraf Hakimi, the less said about his personal life the better, but on the pitch at least he's doing pretty well for Morocco right now.
But then Isidor Wilson Isidor with an absolute worldy to put Haiti 2-1 up, heading into half time, or so they thought.
Wasn't quite into half time because Saibari got an equalizer in added-on time at the end of the first half.
And then eventually the tired legs were showing.
Haiti knew they had to realistically win this game to go through as a third-place team.
I think even then it wouldn't have been enough for them unfortunately.
But Rahimi and also Yassine getting goals for Morocco late on in this game.
4-2 victory for Morocco.
They got the job done, but it wasn't quite enough for them unfortunately, 'cause Brazil won and they won big.
Unsurprisingly, Brazil absolutely destroying Scotland.
I mean, they were totally dominant in this.
First half, Scotland absolutely useless.
Second half, Scotland absolutely useless.
I mean, they might go through as one of the best-placed third teams, but I don't see it personally, and they don't deserve to, to be honest with you.
I mean, only that one goal against Haiti.
That shows how poor of a team they are overall in my opinion.
But Vinicius Jr effectively won this game for Brazil in the first half.
The Celestale going into half time 2-0 up.
Two defensive mistakes from Scotland at both ends of the half.
Again, an early goal there just showing that Scotland really aren't up for this World Cup in my opinion.
They're not on the level of a World Cup team.
That's just my personal opinion.
Matheus Cunha rounding it off though on the hour mark.
We also saw Neymar take to the pitch as well, something I didn't expect to see.
Moving on to Group A, we'll quickly go through these two.
In the, in the southern derby, the battle of the south, we had a bit of a surprise here.
South Africa managed to win.
Maseko with the only goal of the game.
South Korea just not turning up in this.
I mean, they had a lot of the ball but didn't fashion any opportunities really of note, to be honest.
And South Africa score in this game to win their first game at the World Cup since 2010, since they hosted the competition back in the day.
And they're through.
They're through to the knockouts.
First time ever?
Possibly.
Quite possibly.
Mexico, they are also through.
I mean, we knew they were through anyway.
We knew they were gonna win the group.
But a 3-0 victory against the Czechs.
The Czech Republic unfortunately for them go crashing out.
It was Chavez, Quinonez, that man again, and also Fidalgo with the goals to make it 3-0 to the home side, one of the co-hosts there.
Mexico go through as group winners.
South Africa in second.
South Korea, they might make it through in third, but it's gonna be tight to be honest.
I think there's a 50/50 chance really.
But we'll have to see how the other groups go.
