Scottie Scheffler finishes runner-up at 3M Open for fifth time this season
Scottie Scheffler finished second at the 3M Open to Jackson Koivun, it was his fifth runner-up finish of the year on the PGA Tour.

I mean, I feel like we're seeing a lot of really, really good young talent in the game today.
I think when you, you see the guys coming out of college, they're really, really prepared.
You know, m- even more prepared than we were coming out years ago.
And I think a lot of times you can see that belief when they see some other guys have success, and that guys that they're competing against, and then you get out here, it only can give these guys more confidence.
And so we're seeing a ton of talent coming up from the college ranks and PGA Tour U, and I think it's, it's really, it's really good for the sport and, and really good for our tour as well.
I know you said yesterday that when you were up and coming you asked a lot of other golfers for advice.
Did you two talk at all, um- no.
Actually, I, I haven't spoken to Jackson yet.
I haven't had a chance to, to see him hit a shot yet.
You know, I, obviously I've heard about his, his pedigree in college, but I haven't been able to see it in person yet, so, I'm looking forward to that.
So behind every good golfer is a better caddy.
What is your relationship with Ted like, and how does he help you on and off the course?
Yeah, I mean, Ted's, Ted's one of my, my closest friends.
He's a, he's a great guy and a great caddy, and he's somebody that I rely on for, for a lot of stuff, you know?
Not just on the course, but life stuff and parenting and, you know, he's a good guy for me to be able to bounce stuff off of a lot, a lot of the time.
Scottie, there's, you know, not a lot of what ifs on a 63 and, you know, great, great day for you, but the putt on 14, I think it was the five-footer, you know, what did you see there?
What, uh- 14.
Let me think.
Yeah, I had to- It li- lipped out a little bit I think.
Oh, yeah, yeah.
yeah, it was a five-footer down the hill.
Looked pretty straight to me and kinda just wobbled a little right and then, you know, caught the lip.
Okay.
Anything else?
Yeah, and on, and on a day like this, is that, when you mi- it seems like you ca- can't afford to make any, like, wobbles at all.
When you missed that or, you know, how much did that 'Cause you coulda got it down to two at that point.
Yeah, I mean, wh- when you're playing so far in front of the leaders on, on an easier golf course, it can always look, I think, sometimes maybe a little tighter than it is.
You know, just 'cause those guys have time to go through those easy holes that I just played.
And so, yeah, I think sometimes that can be a little bit, like, how do you say it?
Deceptive.
Yeah, it can be a little deceptive.
Yeah.
Yeah, in terms of how close it is just with the, the holes that the leaders and Jackson had left to play.
You know, I needed to really post something at his number or ahead of his number I think if I wanted to have a chance.
It's gotta be tough when you play chess like Scottie Scheffler talking to a bunch of folks who play checkers.
I include myself in that conversation.
How do you think he's handling these repeated questions, these repeated close calls?
I, I think he's handling them well.
I think at times there's a little bit of frustration there.

I think if you're Scottie, you did everything you could.
He shot 64, 63 over the weekend.
Beautiful weekend.
Yeah, he played absolutely flawless golf over the weekend.
Didn't make a bogey for the last 36 holes.
I, I, if you're Scottie, you, you've gotta, once the dust settles, you've gotta be like, "You know what?
I, I did everything I could.
I just got beaten by a kid that played fantastic golf."
Yeah.
Who's looking forward to seeing him play.
Never seen him hit a shot- Yeah.
Yeah, very interesting as he said.
What's left for Scottie as you look at it?
We talked about the President's Cup, I guess, and also the playoffs as well.
How do you see his next couple of weeks and months unfolding?
Yeah, I d- I don't think we see Scottie again until Memphis, and then, you know, obviously he's gotta be looking at making a, a big run in the playoffs again.
Would, would love to lift that FedEx Cup trophy.
Um- Yeah.
Yeah, it's gonna be a couple weeks off for Scottie.
Well-earned, obviously.
Takes a lot out of you contending in these events, takes a lot out of you contending in these majors.
Had a big chance last week at the Open, and then obviously this, this week doing his best to try and chase down Jackson Cowan.
