I couldn't believe this story when I saw it, and I, I guess I shouldn't be too surprised by this 'cause I know that Sean Payton is really close with Bill Belichick, but this is crazy.

Did you guys see this?

This came out this morning from an article that Seth Wickersham wrote for ESPN.com about the p- the, the Broncos and their rise heading into this season.

According to Seth Wickersham, when Bill Belichick and the Patriots divorced in 2024, Sean Payton considered going to the Broncos owner with a proposal that would've put Bill Belichick as the head coach of the Broncos to be there to pass J- Don Shula's record of 347 wins.

And then once he got the record in a Bronco uniform, Belichick would then step down and Sean Payton would go back to being head coach.

In the interim, Sean Payton would be the assistant head coach and be in charge of the offense.

In the end, it became too complicated and maybe too crazy as well, but it never actually happened.

I, I mean, I know that Belichick has friends, and I know Sean Payton looks up to Belichick and would love to be around him to see But could you ever imagine giving up your job for someone else to come in and break a record?

Because 15 wins is basically two years, right?

Two years.

You have to be willing to step down and then believe that you are going to be able to get your job back if Belichick was like, "I don't wanna go anywhere."
