The Seattle Seahawks Path to a Repeat Super Bowl May Not Look the Way You Want it to
Ross Johnston lays out the possibility that the Seattle Seahawks could lose their division in 2026 and still repeat as champions.

Season as the 2026 NFL season kicks off next Wednesday with the Seattle Seahawks hosting the New England Patriots in a Super Bowl rematch to kick off the season.
And of course, we've got divisional predictions.
And right here, we got Danny Parkins of First Things First talking the NFC West, and he actually has the Seattle Seahawks winning the division yet again and running it back as Super Bowl champions.
Now, I wanna take this a certain route because I actually don't think the Seattle Seahawks are gonna win their division this year.
I actually think the Los Angeles Rams will be the one seed in the NFC and will win the NFC West.
But before you get too up in arms about that, two things.
One, I could be wrong 'cause I could obviously see Seattle doing it again.
But also two, I don't think Seattle has to win their division in order to repeat.
Now, look, again, these are all predictions.
We never-- We don't know what's gonna happen.
I would say it is a strong assumption that whoever between Seattle or the Rams does not win their division is the number five seed in the NFC, which would mean that in the divisional round, having that team winning the wild card, say, the Seahawks lose their division, they come in second, and say they are the five seed, and say they go to the four seed on the road in the wild card and win, they would play most likely the LA Rams in LA at some point in either the, the divisional round or the NFC championship game.
We really don't think Seattle can go into LA and win a game.
I mean, I know they lost in LA last year, won both games in Seattle, but I mean, heck, LA doesn't have a great home atmosphere.
There's not a great fan base.
Seattle could overtake that stadium easy.
I think Seattle could certainly win that game.
And the whole thing about this is in order to repeat-- I know everyone wants to win their division.
I know that that is the easiest pathway to have the one seed, have the wild card bye, have home field advantage throughout the playoffs.
I get that.
And again, I'm not saying Seattle can't do that.
I just don't think they will this season.
But Seattle can certainly go on the road and win playoff games.
They would probably be the favorite in the wild card if they were the five seed, to be honest, over the four seed, whoever that would be, likely someone out of the NFC South if I had to guess.
But going through the Rams, they would have to go through them likely at some point, they definitely could.
Now, the Rams are going to be everyone's Super Bowl favorite, getting Aaron Donald back, adding Miles Garrett, obviously having the reigning MVP, Matthew Stafford, Davante Adams, Puka Nacua, the list goes on with the types of players they got, the caliber of a team they've got.
But Seattle's still got a heck of a football team as well.
In fact, I could see both these teams winning thirteen or fourteen games in the regular season.
Seattle obviously won fourteen and three last year.
The Rams won twelve and five.
I could see them both being up near fourteen and three, to be honest with you.
But again, the whole point of this video being the Seattle Seahawks do not need to win their division to repeat as Super Bowl champions.
They can go on the road and win playoff games.
We all know they can do it.
They have the type of guys to do it.
They have the coach to do it.
So I don't know what's gonna happen.
But again, I do have the LA Rams winning the NFC West.
I probably will have Seattle going further in the playoffs, though.
