Simms: Never any doubt about Williams, 49ers deal

There's some NFL news- There is during draft week.

There's always different things trickling in.
I feel like this is a annual occurrence, Chris.
Yes.
Trent Williams and the 49ers worked out a new deal.
Worked out a new deal.
Good for him.
Good for them.
They, they, they needed to find a common ground just to make the, the salary cap burden just a little less.
And what did they do?
Two years, $50 million is basically what they do.
I think they gave him 37 million guaranteed.
So there you go.
Trent Williams, again, at his age, yes, really good.
He's not the best left tackle in football anymore, but he's up there, and so he gets a little more guarantee and feels warm and cozy is my new favorite thing on this podcast- Yeah, you love that one in, in that, and financially.
And then the 49ers go, "Okay, we're good here for the next two years," and they can start thinking about the future and thinking about other positions on that offensive line.
Yeah, for the Trent side of things, you said it, 37 million guaranteed.
I always love the signing bonus, 22 million.
Must be nice to like wake up the next day- Right, just sign your name oh, there's $22 million- Right?
Isn't that amazing?

But Trent Williams, he knows what that's like.
The Niners take care of business.
Yeah, Shanahan loves him.
Right.
He loves being with Shanahan.
He fits schematically and like can do all the athletic things Shanahan asks of a left tackle, so there's always been a great relationship there.
I never had any doubt that this was not gonna work out.
Again, this is where, we talked about Monday about coaches having the magic touch, and that Shanahan, John Lynch, they know how to communicate.
That's why they are who they are.
That's why the 49ers have been one of the more successful teams.
They talk to the players.
They let them know where they stand, and they get things figured out the right way.
