Steve Garcia wants to retire Alexander Volkanovski

Steve Garcia said Alexander Volkanovski is no longer the same fighter, a statement connected to his pursuit of a featherweight title opportunity. Garcia is scheduled to face Diego Lopes at UFC White House on June 14 and intends to call for a title shot against Volkanovski if he wins. On the Smash Cast podcast, the "Mean Machine" said Volkanovski should retire and vowed to retire the 37-year-old if they meet. Garcia (27-8) rides seven straight wins with six finishes. Lopes (19-5) has a win over Jean Silva between two title losses to Volkanovski. Volkanovski (28-4) defended the belt five times, then reclaimed it against Lopes and most recently defended it in January at UFC 325.
