Cambria Sturgis has done a good number so far on the turn, but now the Olympic champion will lead off the turn.

It looks familiar, doesn't it?

It looks familiar.

Gabby Thomas out in front and streaking away.

Wow.

Didn't I tell you?

I thought that was coming, Otto.

Sanya, you said it.

Last evening- Ooh, yes Julian Alfred of St. Lucia ran 21.8, and you said in the car over here, "Gabby's gonna wanna answer."

She's answered with the world's fastest time.

21.7.

When she comes off the turn like this, you are in trouble because we know the weakness of Gabby's race is traditionally the first 100.

But she comes off the turn with a lead.

That's when she's most dangerous.

Man, Tonja Buford-Bailey has her in phenomenal shape.

And what else did I say, Lee?

They're having fun.

They're back to the basics.

They don't have the pressure of an Olympics or a world championships at the end of the season, and it is showing.

How fast will Gabby Thomas then go this year?

Eh, credit to her coach.

She told us when we saw her yesterday, she said, "Oh, Gabby's gonna run something crazy tomorrow."

She's ready.

Yeah.

That looked very reminiscent of Paris, the way she came off the turn.

Yes.

By the way, before the gun went off, we mentioned Kaila White, great run in second with a 22.07, and then Favour Ofili of Nigeria coming in third.

All right.

We'll stop talking about it.

Let's hear from the golden girl herself.

Here's Gabby.

She's with Lewis.

Let's see what she has to say.

So Gabby, the world lead was set last night, and now you have it.

Were you surprised by the time?

I have to say, I was a little surprised by the time, but I've been training hard.

I had a great little tour in Africa and went back to the track, and I've been working.

So I'm glad it's paying off.

With a season where you don't have to worry about an Olympic trials or a world championship trials, you can just compete, can you describe the fun you're having and maybe the time you get to spend with those three Olympic gold medals and looking at them every now and then?

Oh, it's been so much fun.

I can't lie to you.

having an off year where there's not a lot of pressure, I get to pick the meets that I wanna do, and I really am having fun with it.

I look forward to waking up, going to the track every day, and even just being here competing.

Excellent, Gabby.

Great to see you, and continued success this season.

Thank you.

All right.

Thank you.
