Tony, obviously you guys knew what you were up against with the way Kyle Harrison's been pitching.
What in particular was making him so difficult tonight?
the same thing visited, I think, in the dugout on, and also in the hitters' meeting, four-seamed.
it, it's a challenge to lay off fastball up.
you know, so potentially a couple walks there o- o- on pitches that are either up, and then also just under a few pitches in different situations.
And then there were, there were a few good at-bats, sometimes nothing to show for it, and then, you know, able to do a couple things like a walk or a hit, just find a way to get on base.
But we weren't able to accumulate anything there.
Once we weren't good against the lefty, which I thought it was a possibility, stay left-handed and go to Ashby, and he's been one of the better guys in the league, and we actually showed fairly well against him, but, not able to accumulate enough.
Your bullpen, we've talked about this so much.
Sometimes when you score late or, I mean, almost any time when you try to have a shutdown inning, guys have walked the first batter of the inning, and it happens to Tristan, and they wind up- Yeah, it's a- scoring a bit it's a discussion we've had, very recently a- and then about a week ago.
you know, not, not so much about the shutdown factor.
I mean, the first inning is important, too, and to walk two guys there, y- you know, so that, that, that deal's gonna hurt you no matter where you do it.
it doesn't mean they're gonna score runs.
Willie, impressive walk in the first inning, and it's not like he scored, and a, you know, a rise was on third.
It's not like he scored.
You can work around it, but as you tally up those numbers, more times than not when you look at the scoreboard or the scorecard, the team with the fewer walks is gonna win.
How would you evaluate McDonald's out- outing tonight?
I thought it was outstanding.
obviously you'd love to undo that deal where he, he walks two guys and he's a, a pitch away.
And, I don't know where Bowers stands in, in the league, but I know he's leading their team in home runs and, and he shoots one over.
But to regain composure in, in the bullpen is, y- you know, some things in front, of open eyes and talk here, and some things behind, closed doors where, we're a little shorthanded there.
And so for him to do what he did was, was outstanding, and really it was kind of a, a touchy point there.
Do, do you let him go or, do you go to the lefty like we did?
It, that worked out well, but what we needed after that was for, you know, everyone obviously to do their job for it to line up the way that we wanted.
