I heard you were asked about this yesterday, but with Harris, are you- is the plan for, for him to be a multi-inning guy, a one-inning guy, potentially as a starter?

I know he gotten stretched out there in Sacramento a little bit.

I think a blend of all three.

I think that's, you know, not a, an out answer, but a sincere answer.

The, probably the thing weighing on us a little bit is it's, it's time for him to throw.

You know, we're approaching a week, so, there was a, a vision for a scenario he'd come in yesterday.

We'll just get back to the drawing board before the game today and see what's more suitable.

First go around might be shorter, but I think he's You know, the way he's worked, that length ability is there.

So I wouldn't be surprised if it's three different You know, we, we wanna put him in a position to succeed and be fair to him, but I, I think he's got a level of toughness to him that I think will help ease our minds if maybe the first three times out are three totally different scenarios.

You used a righty ahead of a righty yesterday in the opener situation.

Yeah.

Are you I guess, what went into that, and also do you, do you anticipate doing that, like with San Martn, or?

I, I think a little bit of Bruce's success, you know, as far as splits go, and then also where we've gotten to the point with the two guys we have down there.

You know, Sam's become really flexible for us and also incredibly valuable.

So in order to Which it almost happened last night.

Hauser did a great job of finishing, but the next hitter would've been San Martn, so we wouldn't have really had that situation available, you know, if we would've started with San Martn.

But it's a, it's a possibility, and it's an easy argument that we should've gone the other way, too.

If he's just gonna go out one inning, they're probably gonna dictate their lineup, you know?

So it may not, it may not work out in our favor that way, too.

But all discussions were had, for whatever it's worth.

But I think, you know, you gotta go off your personnel a little bit, and for right now, it's We almost kinda see it as having one and a half lefties down there with, with kinda where we're at using Sam.

So I'm just kinda curious what your impressions were just having just had a couple conversations with Marcello and just kinda- Yeah get to know, like, just what the person's all about.

Yeah, great.

Well, a little bit easier because, it's not a complete unknown, with Rafi, with Crochet being over there.

And then also he's pretty tight with one of our favorite balls we had that's in the minor league organization, Max Ferguson.

So, Fergie kinda gave us the green light to talk to him, you know, cue myself at the very least like he's kinda one of us.

If that's an easy way to say it.

So it's been, it's been pretty rapid fire and pretty quick, and I think he's eager to obviously get on the field with us, but he's on a mission just like they were in Boston and, and we will be here to pull the potential out of him.

Because you guys have seen him move around or you've seen highlights.

He can do a lotta dynamic things on the field.

But, I think adding consistency to that, and then obviously increasing those moments that make him a standout player.

But yeah, he's been great.

Is this homestand possible for him, or is it more likely the, the road trip?

It might be more likely the road trip based on the I, I think it was maybe with you guys yesterday, I just kinda talked about, like, a 10-day window starting yesterday.

I, I think past 10 days would be a surprise.

But I think knocking out a bunch of steps that the group has planned for him kinda falls within about a 10-day window.

So right to Boston.

He'll probably end up back there.

You know, and I think, you know, I don't, I don't know if there are any storyline added to that from their end or his end.

I think it'd be more about, everybody having a sense of urgency to get him on the field and, you know, he's I think kinda focused on, more than anything, getting hooked up with Wash and, and just, you know, getting his career where he wants it.

He's pretty ambitious.

I think some people did consider the trade a little bit shocking for him, just because he, it wasn't too far long ago that he was a top prospect.

Right.

He's still 23.

Do you I- in the conversations you've had with him, do you kinda get a sense that he maybe has a little bit of a chip on his shoulder, given that, you know, it seemed like he was gonna have a long future in Boston?

Yeah, a little bit, and I, I think that's Anytime a kid gets drafted, that's the immediate vision, and if you're gonna draft somebody that high, it's the vision from the other, you know, end of things, the organization too.

I got asked by some people, including on TV, about portal, comparisons to the trade deadline, and there, there's a few similarities, but there's more differences.

But one similarity I jump back into just with college recruiting or you see it in portal is match is very important.

And who's to say if he plays there for 10 more years, he's not an all-star multiple times and all those things.

But I feel like being a Cali kid and some other things, there seems to be a, a good match for him here.

And to this point, it just hadn't clicked over there between the two.

So sometimes you see it.

A guy leaves a successful program, and, and sorry if the example doesn't serve well, but at least from my experience, you see a guy leave a program and absolutely takes off in another one because it's a good match.

And it can work the other way, too.

So a cool day at the yard with the honoring the five guys for the Wall of Fame.

Any thoughts go to your mind when, with these guys?

Yeah, I mean, yesterday I came to the park hoping for some good karma.

I think it was the day Barry passed, Hank Aaron yesterday, and so let's keep that mojo rolling.

History is such a huge part of this organization, and in particular that group.

Just having those guys, I know they'll enter the locker room for a little bit.

They'll be out here for the ceremony.

Just having them in the park, served us well on a few other days that there's been ceremonies.

I think Brandon Belt's one I know, if I remember right.

So yeah, but more than anything, for me, again, you, you don't wanna turn into a fanboy when you got a job to do.

But having recruited Brandon and, y- you know, Crawford, we literally had a hitting drill we called the Brandon Crawford Drill.

So it'll be, it'll be fun to have those guys.

Be good to see Pablo again, too.

He was so awesome in spring training with the guys, and he's super insightful.

So just to have the whole group here will have, have a lot of benefits.

Tony, so when you have a, like, a .429 and .212 situation, so leading the Major League, what makes him so good at that situation?

At, at what decisions?

To, he hitting .429 and .212 situation.

Yeah.

Leading the Major League, what makes him so good- Yeah at that situation?

I, I think he's intense and, you know, in those moments you're gonna have extra adrenaline.

You're gonna have a answer- extra sense of awareness of what's going on.

What you do with it's pretty important.

And, and to me, he's always laser-focused.

But I think in those moments he's even more dialed into what he wants to do, and the competitive spirit of the whole thing takes over.

Sometimes guys overdo that.

He doesn't seem to do that.

And then sometimes guys just don't have a feel for what it's gonna take in those situations.

And as fun as the big homers or balls going in the water here are, or other ways you can do it, it's a low line drive more times than not that gets it done in that situation.

A sack fly is not gonna do you any good, and by nature his swing is a low line drive swing.

So I think there's a few things that go into it, but you got a talented, competitive guy.

I think that, is at the heart of it.
