World Cup stars Lionel Messi , Kylian Mbappé , and Erling Haaland have each netted 7 goals this tournament. Matt Perrault discusses the latest Golden Boot odds.

This is an interesting conversation because of the star power we have seen here.
You've got Haaland, you've got Messi, and you've got Mbapp, who have seven goals apiece.
This is the first time in the tournament's history that three different players have scored at least seven goals in a World Cup, and all three have at least one more game to be played, including Messi coming up here for tonight.
And Mbapp will play against Norway, so we've got that matchup coming up here in a little bit.
Your odds for the Golden Boot, the most goals.
Mbapp's at plus 140, then we have Messi, and then we have everybody else.
Kane's an interesting idea because obviously the further teams will go, the more opportunities they're gonna have to make, to score, and to go and have the most goals.
Norway's playing England.

Sorry, France plays Morocco.
You have France and Morocco, you have Spain and Belgium, you have Norway and England, and then we'll find out the winners today with Argentina, Messi playing today, Switzerland and Colombia in the other ones.
So Argentina, if they win today like expected, I think that plus 250 on Messi's pretty good, to be quite honest.
Although, I mean, France and Morocco are gonna play a rematch.
That's a huge matchup here with France and Morocco going up against each other.
So could Morocco beat France?

I think they'll win, so really you could say that Messi's got two games left guaranteed for him, and he's got seven goals.
So I, I think there's some real value on Messi at plus 250, and you could go and present that to somebody who may not fully appreciate that, and then say, "Okay, I think you go to Rabbit, you could If it's two- plus 250 at the sports books for Messi, maybe there's somebody out there that'll take the other side if you give them decent prices on Messi to have them, have him not be the Golden Boot."
Maybe you find some big Mbapp fan who wants to go ahead and bet the other side as to who's gonna wind up winning the Golden Boot.
I, I, yeah, it really does come down to who goes farther.
I think there's real value on Messi at two and a half to one because I think he wants it.
We, we know that this could be it for Messi in terms of his career.
We know that, like, Ronaldo's out, so maybe Messi would be out as well, depending on how far Argentina goes.
But they should win today.
I mean, it would be somewhat surprising if Argentina were to lose today to Egypt.
So they've got one game there, and then they'll have another game in the round of eight.
So, and that could be against Colombia, and Argentina most likely is gonna be favored.
If Colombia is not the opponent and it's if they're gonna get a chance to go up against Switzerland, I think you would see als- you know, Argentina being big favorites.
And then, then they get to the semifinals.
So I agree with Ish.
It does determine on how far, which player's gonna play the longest.
I think there's real odds on Messi.
I, I think that, that that would be an opportunity to jump in with Messi at two and a half to one.
You can shop that price, maybe find a better, better one on it.
But I like, I like Messi at plus 250 or higher to go ahead and to get the Golden Boot here for the most goals scored at the World Cup.
It's a fun market to get involved with.

Yep, I, I think you could talk about Norway's guy.
He's a beast.
He's six foot five.
You know, that's a great point about star players, right?
Because you got a guy from Norway who's six foot five, 210 pounds.
That guy, if he grew up in America, that guy is playing football or playing basketball.
Like, those are the two sports he would be playing.
He wouldn't be playing soccer.
Of a guy of that size, that athletic ability, he would be a tight end, he would be a wide receiver.
Like, he would not be playing soccer in America.
Why?
Because there's way more money to be made by going and playing in college football and then go play in the NFL.
That's what we do with our athletes.
Once we see their talent, we see their size and gift, we don't put them on a soccer pitch.
We just don't do that.
So that's the problem with the sport here in America.
It is not our go-to.
For the rest of the world, 100%, that's their go-to.
That's what they want to develop.
They wanna send one of their kids to the English Premier League, or they wanna send them to a, to a Champions League team.
They wanna go and play at the highest of levels.
That isn't what happens in America.
Yeah, he's Gronk on the pitch.
Sure, he's huge.
And so he go ahead, he just barrels over people.
But in America, that guy plays tight end.
That guy doesn't play soccer.
So he can push people around in soccer for Norway, and he can be a stud and score seven goals because he's the best athlete on the field, on the pitch.
We don't have that same type of thought process in this country.
So that is the biggest difference when it comes down to what happened last night against Belgium.
Think about the athletes we produce.
Think about the incredible speed, like Tyreek Hill.
Could you imagine Tyreek Hill playing soccer?
Like, we're so amazed by Messi, right?
Can you imagine that guy, if we developed him as a soccer player, what he would look like running around?
You'd never catch him.
Like, he would just be gone.
So, like, that's the difference when it comes to how we develop our talent, how we develop our players, versus what the rest of the world does for the sport of soccer.
I, it's just not the same
