Chicago Bears tight end Colson Loveland has been looking unguardable in practice, and we knew he had that ability that he showed during his rookie year.
But year two of Colson Loveland is about to be insanely special after what we saw from the first three days of training camp at Halas Hall.
I'm Cole Noble of AZ Sports Chicago, and the Bears posted a couple highlights from Thursday's pr- training camp practice, and it featured Colson Loveland absolutely rounding up John Rittigan, the veteran linebacker.
And now he's not a starter, he's one of the reserve linebackers, but he had no chance in coverage against Colson Loveland on this play, a true mismatch against a linebacker.
And we haven't seen him yet on the outside against some of the cornerbacks in training camp.
But Colson Loveland dominating the linebackers continued on Friday, even against some of the starting caliber linebackers of Dennis Allen's defense.
Here we see here from Friday's practice, Colson Loveland absolutely going up and mossing Devin Bush, one of the starting linebackers the Bears brought in during the off season.
A true mismatch again.
A tough catch over a linebacker.
Colson Loveland, this, the absolute frame that he has and the catch radius, was able to come down with that catch.
One of the highlight plays of Friday's practice, and that was early in practice.
We get to the end of practice and the Bears ran a two-minute drill situation, and in that drill, Colson Loveland had four catches, including a touchdown catch within that drill.
He is absolutely dominating everyone in practice right now on that Bears defense, and he's looking unguardable.
And again, we haven't even seen him on the outside yet, where Ben Johnson can really get creative and mismatch his size and what he can do against the cornerbacks as well.
But what he's doing against Dylan Thieneman, the first round safety, Devin Bush, the veteran linebacker they brought in, John Rittigan, another veteran linebacker.
No one is able to guard Colson Loveland right now at training camp.
Now, what does this mean for Colson Loveland's 2026 projection?
Well, he was already the seventh ranked tight end according to league coaches, executives, and scouts after his rookie season.
And Caleb Williams earlier in the week says that Colson Loveland could become the best tight end in the league, and I do think it's possible.
I think by the end of this year's time, he won't even be a top five tight end.
I think he'll be viewed as a top three tight end in the league, alongside Trey McBride and George Kittle.

And yes, it's only been three days, but the ceiling is so high for him in 2026
