Tyson can be top WR with Saints for 'next decade'
Matthew Berry, Connor Rogers and Lawrence Jackson Jr. outline why they "love the landing spot" for rookie receiver Jordyn Tyson in New Orleans, also previewing the fantasy futures of Carnell Tate and Fernando Mendoza.

Moving on to number two in your Superflex rookie ranks, Jordan Tyson.
Connor, your number one overall receiver- Yeah in this draft class.
He goes number eight overall to the Saints, goes there to kinda complement Chris Olave.
How do you see it shaking out for him?
Well, you love the landing spot, right?
'Cause Tyler Shuck is good.
We can say that with our chest.
Tyler Shuck is at least competent.
We think there's more upside with him in this offense.
They have a good offensive line where they can drop back and throw the ball down the field.
Jordan Tyson was the receiver to me in this class that has the most clear-cut chance to be a dynamic number one receiver.
Now, I know the combo of Carnell Tate will be more about opportunity because Tyson has to share, targets for now with Chris Olave, who unfortunately has also been hurt a lot throughout his NFL career.
But Matthew, I thought this was the best separator.
He's got great ball skills.
I know everybody gets hung up over the injuries as well with him, but he's been highly productive over the last two years where he's had almost a combined 2,000 yards.
This is a, this is a one where, man, like I'm not really thinking twice about it.
If I don't need Fernando Mendoza at quarterback, I am taking Jordan Tyson.
Yeah, I could not agree more.
He's my number two guy on this list.
As you can see, I have him ranked ahead of Fernando Mendoza.
We'll get to that in a, in a second as well, but like 21 games the past two seasons, scores 19 touchdowns.
So we always talk about this, I've said it a million times, I'll say it a million more, the most important thing when it comes to fantasy success both in redraft and dynasty, basketball, whatever you play, guillotine, whatever you play, is talent and opportunity.
Yeah.
The talent's off the charts, right?
Yeah.
I mean, like we've talked about this, Jaxon Smith-Njigba is a fair comp for Jordan Tyson, right?
Is that- I mean, there- there's some Garrett Wilson in him.
Yeah.
It's, yeah, that level of player- Right for sure.
So you've got that kinda talent, and then you think about the opportunity here wh- where other than, other than Chris Olave, there's not much there.
22% target share for Rashid Shaheed in this offense prior to him being, uh- Traded sent off to Seattle.
Yeah.
And so you think about Tyson, who's the number two, and I would argue that if you look at the draft capital, what does You know, the Saints using a top 10 overall pick on him, right?
Like they've done their research about the medical history.
Yeah.
And, and so obviously the, the front office and Kellen Moore, in New Orleans are comfortable with the, the medical history there.
Does, is there some concerns injury-wise?
Yes, but you know what?
So does every NFL player.
Every NFL player can get hurt on every single play.
You can't really draft like that.
So I think especially when you consider the fact that Chris Olave is set to become a free agent after this season, so there's a ch- there's a scenario, and we like this offense emerging.
We like what we saw- Yeah out of Tyler Shuck last year.
So, you're looking at somebody who could be the number one wide receiver for a pretty good offense, playing in a dome for the next decade, especially if Olave moves on after the end of next year.
Right on.
Well, an- another player who has a potential to be a part of this pretty good offense, Oscar Delp.
He was, he's also drafted by the Saints a couple of rounds later, um- But more importantly- More importantly, his dog is drinking for free today.
Yeah, this is- Happy, happy hour.
So this is, this, this is from, Georgia football- He wants in on social media.
Oscar- He, he just, he just trying to find his spotlight.
Right.
Come on, Dad.

He's going to the Saints, but then the dog maneuvering through traffic- Aw getting up there- Oh, nice onto the couch.
He, he found his way There you go.
Exactly.
Can't get through.
The patience.
Yep.
The patience of the dog, the vision.
He stalked that out.
Yeah, the, the vision.
And so Oscar Delp's dog- How about the vertical?
You know, I, I- drinks for free I respect, I respect Oscar Delp's dog 'cause he was such a gentleman in how he approached everything.
He didn't just go bombard.
Wasn't about that.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It wa- was He a team guy.
He's like, "Look, I'll wait my turn.
This guy just got drafted.
I always, I'm always the center of attention.
Let me wait my turn."
But Connor, I mean, again, we, we talked about the scouting, right?
The patience behind that line, the vision- finding the crease, the vertical- And the leap to finish.
Yes, exactly.
I mean, it's a dynamic athlete.
I'm just saying.
Oscar Delp, but bring your dog to New Orleans with you.
Yeah, no question about it.
So he was the star of the, of the draft as well.
A- as was, my, the number three guy on my list, Carnell Tate.
I think a lot of people were surprised, Connor- Definitely when he went to Tennessee.
Definitely.
Carnell Tate being the fourth overall pick in the draft, a little bit of su- of surprise.
Even if you're like me and you evaluate him more as a high-end number two, what you love about this is two things.
One, you brought up opportunity, Matthew.
Who's gonna have more opportunity than Carnell Tate in theory?
Right.
This wide receiver room doesn't scare you at all.
Number two, his ability when the play breaks down, and when Cam Ward's your quarterback, the play breaks down and turns into a scramble drill a lot, is very natural.
He flows with his quarterback.
He's got good body control along the sideline.
He can leap and track the ball down the field.
So I think these two will mesh together very well.
Yeah, and then you think about, you think about Wan'Dale Robinson as well, you know, coming over.
Brian Daboll.
Like, you feel better about this offense just, again, the addition of, of Daboll as a play caller, the addition of Wan'Dale Robinson, so we'll see what the, if Calvin Ridley has anything left.
But we saw some moments out of DK last year.
He'll probably play in the slot here.
Yeah.
And so suddenly, you know, Carnell Tate, I think And I, maybe I'm overrating this, Connor, and maybe this isn't fair, but for me, the fact that Carnell Tate went to Ohio State, when you just think about Garrett Wilson and Chris Olave and Terron McLaurin- There's a four there.
There's a four and just like Jaxon Smith-Njigba- Yeah just all these amazing Ohio State wide receivers that come out of that program, you just sort of like Like, I don't know, like I give him a couple extra points just because, like if you succeed in that program- I- there's a long track record of you likely succeeding in the NFL.
I think it's a wear helmet scouting does count because, one, they know how to evaluate high school talent at ride, wide receiver.
By the way, Chris Henry's son is now in that program.
You seen them highlights?
Oh my goodness.
Yeah.
Spring game?
Yeah.
Yeah.
It's gonna be nuts.
Yeah.
But they know how to scout high school talent, but they know how to develop it.
Yeah.
They don't come into the league needing to learn a route tree or route detail or anything like that, going back to all the guys you just mentioned, Matthew.
And this time next year we'll be talking about Jeremiah Smith possibly as the one-on-one- Sure.
Oh, yeah in the Superflex.
It's just- For sure it's nuts the wide receiver talent that they scout and develop.
Carnell Tate fits the bill.
Connor, you talked about, when the play breaks down.
Go back to Cam Ward's first touchdown pass in his- Yeah rookie season to Elek Iyamanda.
Yeah.
It was that type of play.
Right.
And Carnell Tate's gonna be the guy who could catch those type of passes.
Moving on to number- And they've improved the offensive line as well.
So I mean, like they're- YesTennessee is, we'll see what happens with Cam Ward, but the, give the Titans credit.
They are trying to put some pieces around- Most definitely Cam Ward.
Most definitely.
Yeah.
Now we go to number four.
Who was the first overall pick in the real NFL draft?
Fernando Mendoza.
Matthew, a lot of times, we kinda know what the first overall pick, he's gonna play right away.
In this case, we do not know that.
You have him number four here.
What's the thought process there?
Well, it's a Superflex dynasty league, right?
So I'm not really worried about whether he starts week one or not.
Right.
This is about long-term, and obviously Look, I, there's an argument that I'm both too high or too low on Mendoza, that the too, the too low is, again, he's a quarterback in a Superflex dynasty league, and he's the only quarterback in this class that has a clear legit shot to start.
Like- Right we'll talk about the Carson Beck's and Drew Ollers of the world- Sure and you know.
But like al- like you know Fernando Mendoza is going to get a very long leash to be a starter in The National Football League.
Okay.
And he's going to He, he's got some nice weapons around him, starting with Brock Bowers, of course, better offensive line as we just talked about.
And we like the coach in Cl- Clint Kubiak.
Yeah.
We like the Kubiak quite a bit.
That matters a lot.
Right?
All of that said, Fernando Mendoza is not somebody who runs, right?
So he's gonna have to beat you with his arm.
And then you think about what's the offense that Clint Kubiak's gonna be.
Like, as good Sam Darnold was unbelievable last year, right?
Sam Darnold was amazing.
Wasn't a top 12 fantasy quarterback- But they, they run the ball for the season.
Yeah.
That is exactly right.
Ca- Sea- Seattle Seahawks last year.
In a year in which everything went right for the Seahawks.
The, the Raiders would sign up for that season six ways till Sunday.
They were 32nd in pass rate last year.
They were 29th in pass attempts.
Clint Kubiak, what he wants to do, they're gonna try to play good defense, and they're gonna just run the ball.
They wanna run the ball with Ashton Jeanty, set up play action.
Like, they don't have a great wide receiver room around, you know.
I mean, like, you know, so- Said it by Jalen Naylor right now.
I'm just gonna say- Yeah.
Jack Besh.
You need, you need Jack Besh to take a step forward.
For sure.
Yeah, yeah.
He was not.
Rookie year.
Yeah, and I mean, I, I, I don't think they're done.
I think they'll probably add a veteran or two that's probably still out there, right?
Yep.
But just feels like, it just feels like Brock Bowers is gonna get a million targets.
But the other thing is, is that Fern They're gonna want to hide Fernando Mendoza, and just that even in full success, which is, would be Sam Darnold last year, he's just not somebody that I think is in a, gonna be He's gonna be a QB two.
I guess is my At, at least in the near future.
It would be my argument here.

Mendoza spent 24 hours with the Raiders and started dropping F-bombs.

They were losing the locker room.

That's a big part of it, too.
So, so that's part of it, but I will just say if I have to throw a dart, I will say the week after they play Denver.
Like, get them through the first Denver game- Yeah so he doesn't have to face that defense.
Have that off and have thought.

And then you're like, "Okay, now he's got some time before he's gotta..." 'Cause that's the best defense in that division.
So I think just getting him through, you know, let Cousins A- again, unless it's, it comes out late, but, there we go
