Remember a lot.
But I remember in 2013, we played against each other in the world championships, and obviously by this time we've played together eight years or something already, so he's a tremendous friend and, and obviously a teammate.
And I remember running into him in that game and just being like, "Oh, damn, is he solid."
Like, you bump into him in practice, but never at full speed.
You never try to hit each other with full intensity in practice.
You're teammates, right?
Mm-hmm.
So I, I had never experienced the brunt of an Alex Ovechkin full b- full speed, full intensity body contact.
And then we had a run in in the international men, in the men's championship game, Canada versus Russia, and I was like, "Oh, I get it now."
Like, this guy is so solid.
Like, he's 240 pounds.
He's got 20 pounds on some of the biggest defensemen in the NHL, and he's just a bear.
And obviously I knew it.
I saw him just dispose of some of the biggest defenders in the game, willingly dispose of them at will for years, but I hadn't personally felt it, and it's a different thing when you feel it for yourself.
And, his raw blend of physicality, of competitiveness, and of skill is unmatched in NHL history.
That combination, that lethal combination is unmatched in NHL history
