Where Does This Years Defence Compare To Last Years?
The Edmonton Oilers changed much of their blueline this summer, so much so that the group deserves a comparison to the one iced last season.

I was gonna say, can we stop those rumors?
But, you know, Dylan Larkin, Dylan Larkin is gonna potentially be traded by Detroit, and being a captain, Brady Tkachuk got traded, so I don't think it's, it'll stop those rumors.
But if you look at their roster, the only two names that made any sense were Thomas and maybe Colton Parayko, and Thomas is their best player.
He's a point per game player the last three years.
I think he's their best forward.
He's a great, setup man.
You know, he'll score 25 to 30 goals, but he's at the right age.
He's been around for a championship.
It just made too much sense.
So I, I'm not surprised at this, and, well, I think it was a good choice by the, by the Blues.
Eric, it's kinda cool to see it come full circle for Thomas, obviously, his rookie year on that Stanley Cup-winning team, and now the next captain.
I mean, what It seemed like, kinda like Mike said, this was a pretty obvious choice, but still very cool to see.
Yeah, absolutely.
I mean, being a pretty important part of that team and seeing how long, he's been able to stick around there and be an important part, sort of like the foundational piece of their offense now with guys like Jordan Kyrou out of the picture.
But I think this decision just kinda adds to a pretty great off-season overall by the Blues, like Doug Armstrong and, and Alex Steen now in the fold as GM.
You've seen them make good decisions at the draft, at free agency, and on the trade market.
They brought in reclamation projects like McTavish and, Brandon Carlo, acquired McMichael in, the Kyrou trade as well, and they made a couple of nice draft picks in, like, Tynan Lawrence and, Maddox Dagenais as well in the first round.
So it feels like six months ago, everything was gonna be torn down to the studs in St. Louis, and, it feels like pretty quickly things have turned around here, and I think this is a great step in what should be a pretty good bounce-back season for the Blues.
