- Why Alabama football offensive coordinator Nick Sheridan left coaching box early vs LSU
LSU didn't leave Alabama football offensive coordinator Nick Sheridan with much else to do. And he wanted to start the celebration early.
After Alabama scored its final touchdown on an 8-yard run by running back Richard Young with 2:07 left in the game, Sheridan and the other coaches in the press box at Tiger Stadium made their way down to the field.
Even after Alabama got the ball back after Garrett Nussmeier found Kyren Lacy for a 12-yard touchdown with 11 seconds left, Sheridan found the Alabama offensive assignment simple enough to end the Crimson Tide 's 42-13 win.
"The game was essentially over," Sheridan said. "The only thing that was left was taking a knee when we got the ball back."
All Sheridan wanted to do was "get down to the people that you care about and enjoy those moments" in an environment like Tiger Stadium.
"I was just happy for the players, their families, everybody that put so much hard work into each week," Sheridan said. "So to be able to get down there and not only myself, but the other guys that are in the box, yeah it was a special moment. I was glad I was able to do it."
Alabama will take on Mercer at 1 p.m. Saturday at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
