PS Plus Games For October 2025 Announced
On October 8, a trio of new games will join the PlayStation Plus library of monthly games. Given that October contains Halloween, it's only natural that one of the greatest horror titles of all time would be among them. As part of the State of Play presentation, they also revealed that The Last of Us Part II and The Last of Us Part II Remastered will join the Game Catalogue for higher-tier subscribers on September 26, and the mid-October refresh will include Tomb Raider Anniversary, Tekken 3, and Soul Calibur 3. But we'll get to those PlayStation classics when they're closer to release.
Alan Wake II
The original Alan Wake, released in 2009, was developer Remedy's first title after their genre-defining Max Payne duology (which would then be continued by Rockstar Games, who developed Max Payne 3). After building out the universe with Control, set in the same universe, they finally returned to the darkness beneath Cauldron Lake with 2023's Alan Wake II. While the original was a Teen-rated action game with horror elements, the sequel dives into straight-up survival horror, complete with a Mature rating and all the bloody terror that comes with it. It might be a bit heavy on the jump scares (to the point where an option was added in to tone them down), but it's a horror epic with some of the best characters and storytelling I've ever experienced in a video game. Oh, and it's also a musical. Kinda. But if you don't know about that yet, I shall say no more.
Cocoon
Based on the Ron Howard movie of the same name, Cocoon puts players in the shoes of Don Ameche on a quest to cure Wilford Brimley's diabetes (diabetus) via a magical swimming pool. Nah, I'm just kidding. Cocoon is actually an isometric action/adventure game focused on exploration and strategic boss battles. The game won Eurogamer's "Game of the Year" award and is highly regarded among those who've played it. Hopefully, it will become more popular than ever now that it's easily accessible for PlayStation users.
Goat Simulator III
Goat Simulator turned heads when it launched in 2014, but the sequel, released in 2022, cranked up the insanity to nigh-unbearable levels. It's loud and obnoxious, but I wouldn't have it any other way! Goat Simulator III needs to be experienced to be fully believed. It's a surreal parody of video games, a postmodern examination of the very concept of "play," and just a fun time all around. And no, you're not missing a game. There is no Goat Simulator II. That's just part of the joke, baby!
