Should You Pull For SSR Sasami Anshinzawa And SR Tamamo Cross In Umamusume: Pretty Derby?

SSR Sasami Anshinzawa, Tracen Academy's esteemed yet often dangerous acupuncturist, recently arrived in Umamusume: Pretty Derby as a "Friendship" card! Her spotlight banner also features the debut of SR Tamamo Cross (Guts), with the banner lasting from February 5 until February 14, 10:00 PM UTC. Let's take a closer look at this seemingly mysterious card, discover what it provides, and discuss whether this is worth pulling for.

SSR Sasami Anshinzawa Stats And Skills

SSR Sasami Anshinzawa Stats and SkillsCygames, Inc.

Like many friendship cards, such as SSR Riko Kashimoto and Tazuna Hayakawa , SSR Sasami grants high amounts of energy, mood-up events, and some generic stats. However, unlike the cards previously mentioned, Sasami also provides several negative skills and ample mood-down events.

Featured Gold Skill

Effect

Nothing Ventured

Greatly increase velocity in the second half of the race, but also greatly increase fatigue sometimes.

While this skill grants a massive boost to speed, it's entirely random during the second half of the race, giving it a chance to become useless when it activates during the last spurt section. To make things worse, there is a 30% chance that [Nothing Ventured] reduces stamina equivalent to two [Murmurs] or a 10% chance of losing twice that much.

Event Skill

Effect

Wallflower

Moderately decrease performance when many other runners are using the same strategy.

Corner Recovery ×

Moderately lose endurance on a corner with inefficient turning.

Risky Business

Moderately increase velocity in the second half of the race, but also greatly increase fatigue sometimes.

Running Idle

Moderately increase fatigue when in the lead by too large of a margin.

Uma Stan

Slightly increase velocity when close to many runners.

Stats at Level 45 (MLB)

This card would have been fantastic in the upcoming third scenario if it possessed at least 10% Race Bonus, but we can't have everything in Umamusume. Despite having a couple of strong stats, it's a bit short on Friendship Bonus and completely lacks any Mood Effect. However, it's one of the few SR cards with 15% Training Effectiveness.

Should You Pull Analysis

SSR Sasami Anshinzawa

Strengths

  • High energy output

  • Potentially high skill point output

Weaknesses

  • Several RNG events

  • Most events can reduce mood, some reduce energy

  • Terrible Gold Skill

  • All skills have downsides, except for [Uma Stan]

SSR Sasami is essentially a troll/gimmick card that's intended as a way for her acupuncture event to appear frequently outside of the URA scenario. Her original random event was a gambling event that offered five options, each with varying success rates, bonuses, and specific downsides upon failure. Her SSR Card builds upon her chaotic nature, then cranks it up several magnitudes higher.

SR Tamamo Cross

Strengths

  • Good Specialty Priority at 60

  • Has 15% Training Effectiveness

  • Has events for [Pace Chaser Corners â—‹] and [Late Surger Corners â—‹]

Weaknesses

  • Unusable in MANT due to lack of Race Bonus

  • Guts cards are not optimal in Unity Cup

SR Tamamo Cross has the issue of having strong stats but lacks the exact one required for Guts cards to excel, particularly in the following career scenario. Unity Cup's energy-hungry mechanic generally favors Wit cards, while Guts cards suffer due to having much higher energy costs. In MANT, Guts cards with race bonuses excel due to their efficiency in training multiple stats at a single facility.

This places Tamamo Cross at an impasse, although she might have been more viable if she had been released before the Unity Cup scenario.

Rating

SSR Sasami Anshinzawa - 0.5/5

SR Tamamo Cross - 2/5

F2P Value - Please Don't

SSR Sasami often has no business being in most trainers' decks, but some might be dearly missing her gambling opportunities. For SR Tamamo Cross, her card is now available in the standard SR Pool, so you don't have to pull on this banner to obtain her. In general, sniping for SR rate-up cards is inadvisable since you can't "spark" them, and the rate-up isn't significant enough with the chances still being low.
