Ranking The Themes of Deadlock's New Heroes From The Old Gods, New Blood Update

Deadlock 's Old Gods, New Blood update introduced six new heroes to Valve's MOBA shooter. Since the update, two of these six new heroes have already been released. In this article, I'll be ranking each of the six new heroes introduced from the update. My primary criteria for ranking the heroes is based on how interesting their themes are and how interested I am for their release.

Celeste

Last on my list is Celeste. The three words on her teaser poster describe her as a performer that's dazzling and disruptive. While she hasn't been released yet, this description leads me to believe that she'll be another mage or a supportive character. Aesthetically, I didn't find her as appealing as the other characters introduced in this update, but maybe her kit will lead me to change my mind about her.

Graves

Next, Graves is ranked number five on my list of the new Deadlock characters. She's the winner of the second community vote and was recently released a few days ago. While I thought that her theme as a necromancer was interesting, I was more drawn to the other characters in the update. However, I did think she was fun to play during my time playtesting her.

Rem

Fourth on my list is Rem, who was the winner of the first community vote. Rem initially appealed to me because of his aesthetics. He's a support that uses sleep-related abilities to support his team. I'm ranking Rem fourth on my list because aesthetically, he was refreshing to see in comparison to the rest of Deadlock's morbid cast. However, I personally like the themes of the three characters above him more.

Silver

At number three on my list is Silver, who is a werewolf. The three words used in her teaser to describe her are Feral, Hot Mess, and Transformation. While she hasn't been released yet, I think the concept of a female werewolf character is interesting. I'm hoping that her kit will vary depending on which form she's in.

Apollo

At number two on my list is Apollo, who appears to be a devilish fencer. The three words used to describe him in his teaser are Finesse, Mobility, and A Cut Above. Based on this description and him using a rapier, it looks like Apollo will be a high skill ceiling hero that will require you to get into the thick of combat and maneuvre through it with finesse. Among the heroes introduced in the update, Apollo's was the second most interesting based on theme alone.

Venator

First on my list is Venator, whose teaser describes him as a holy man that uses guns and is a master tactician. Among the heroes introduced in this update, Venator's themes were most appealing to me and feel very fitting with the overall theme of the game. His poster showing him having multiple weapons makes me hope that he'll utilize each one of them in combat. While there isn't much else information on him at the moment, he's the character I've been casting my votes for and the one I'm most looking forward to be released.
