Several establishments are hosting special events for New Year's Day featuring everything from a mechanical bull to guided meditation.

Sweeties' Adult Ice Cream Class

The new year is a prime opportunity to pick up a new skill, so why not learn how to make ice cream? Sweeties in Roslindale is hosting an Adult Ice Cream Class from 12:30-2 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 1. Participants will leave the 90-minute class with a layered pint of New Zealand-style ice cream, ice cream sandwiches, fresh waffle cones and a Sweeties tote bag. Those interested in taking the $65 class can save their spot on Sweeties' website .
Buckin' A Brunch! at Banners
82 Causeway St., Boston
One of Boston's best sports bars is giving guests a chance to kick off the new year with honky tonk-themed fun. Banners Kitchen and Tap will host PBR's Buckin' A Brunch! from 12-6 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 1. The hoedown will feature a live country band, meet-and-greets with PBR athletes and a mechanical bull. Whoever rides the bull the longest will be crowned "Top Bull Rider" and win a pair of tickets to PBR's "Unleash The Beast" professional bull riding show at TD Garden on Jan. 2-3. Tickets are $20 per person and can be purchased via Find a Table . The event starts at noon, but guests are encouraged to arrive by 11:45 a.m. The bull-riding contest will be held from 2-3 p.m.
Medium Rare's New Year's Day Pajama Brunch

If riding a mechanical bull isn't your thing, then maybe dining in your pajamas is. Those looking to eat out in their PJs — and possibly win prizes by doing so — can bring their crew to Medium Rare's New Year's Day Pajama Brunch from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 1. Diners who don their best sleepwear could win a $100 Medium Rare gift card in one of four categories: Best Family Jammies, Most Creative Pajamas, Best Group Theme and Most Festive PJs. Before winners are announced, diners can order Medium Rare's brunch items, including the restaurant's signature Steak & Eggs, Medium Rare's Famous Benedict, overnight-soaked French Toast and bottomless 25-cent mimosas. Reservations are $40 a person, and can be made online via OpenTable .
New Year's Day PJ Party at Bubble Bath

Speaking of pajamas, Boston's newest rooftop is also giving guests a chance to ring in 2026 while in their PJs. Bubble Bath Back Bay will host a New Year's Day PJ Party from 2-8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 1. Attendees can take in views of Back Bay and the Charles River while chilling on the heated patio. In addition, Bubble Bath will offer champagne and bubble snow cones, an ice luge, hot dogs, caviar and caviar hot dogs while DJ Leo Passman spins tunes. No ticket or minimum is required to attend the party.
New Year's Day Brunch and One Last Cheat Meal Specials at Sweet Cheeks Q

Those looking to sneak in one last filthy meal before working on their New Year's resolution to eat healthier are encouraged to stop by Sweet Cheeks Q in Fenway for the barbecue joint's New Year's Day Brunch and One Last Cheat Meal Specials. From 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 1, Sweet Cheeks Q will serve up brunch specials, hangover helpers and cheat meals. Featured specials include the Flat Patty Biscuit ($18), BBQ Fried Rice ($24) and Good Luck Chicken & Grits ($28). Reservations are not required, but are encouraged.
Vision board and manifestation class at The Embody School in Cambridge

Start 2026 with a clear mind at The Embody School's "Vision board and Manifestation" class at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 1. The yoga studio will host a two-hour guided meditation class intended to help participants better envision what they want to bring into their life in the new year. Attendees should bring a mat, journal and a piece of cardboard and other materials to create a vision board. It costs $40 to go to the class. Prospective attendees can save their spot online .
