New Boston Trader Joe’s store to open for business this week
After months of waiting , a popular supermarket chain is opening its brand-new West Roxbury store this week.
Trader Joe's will officially open for business at 1999 Centre St. at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 30, the company said Monday. A short ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at 8:55 a.m.
The store is the fourth Trader Joe's location in Boston, according to the company's website. The other locations include one on Thomson Place in the Seaport and two on Boylston Street in Back Bay.
More than 80 employees were hired at the new store in addition to transfers from other locations, according to Trader Joe's."
"Trader Joe's will donate 100% of products that go unsold but remain fit to enjoy to a range of nonprofit, community-based organizations," the company said in a statement on Monday.
The property formerly housed a Walgreens, which closed in November 2024
Trader Joe's announced in July that it would open 30 new stores around the country , with two in Massachusetts, including the West Roxbury location. The other will be at 165 Needham St. in Newton, the second Trader Joe's in the city .
