Farm-to-table destination in Mass. to close after 25 'unforgettable' years
Ten Tables, an intimate Boston bistro that has been at the forefront of farm-to-table cuisine for a quarter of a century, is closing.
The longtime Jamaica Plain eatery will shut down following its last day of service on New Year's Eve, which is Wednesday, Dec. 31.
"I'm closing this chapter with immense gratitude — for every guest who squeezed into one of our tiny table tops, every farmer who showed up at the back door, and every member of our team who poured their heart into this restaurant," Owner Krista Kranyak wrote in a Facebook post on Sunday, Dec. 7.
"In this same beloved space, I'll be reimagining what comes next: a new concept that honors the intentional, crafted, and change-making purpose that is my passion. I can't wait to share more soon," she continued. "Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for 25 unforgettable years at Ten Tables. Stay tuned—this story isn't over yet.
Kranyak opened Ten Tables "as a tiny, European-inspired neighborhood restaurant" more than two decades ago.
"At a time when 'farm-to-table' was still more philosophy than practice, we helped pioneer that movement here in JP — cooking simply, seasonally, and as close to the farmers and makers as possible," the owner wrote on Facebook.
Ten Tables is known for its "welcoming and comfortable environment" coupled with "handcrafted food, cocktails as well as local craft beers and a sustainable, organic wine list," according to the restaurant's website . The restaurant's seasonal menu ranged from items such as braised pork in the winter to quinoa broccoli cakes in the summer.
"I had one of the best meals ever there — a rich stew with fat noodles," one Facebook user commented on Ten Tables' post. "Congrats on your achievements and wishing you the best with your next chapter!"
Another Facebook user called Ten Tables "one of my favorite restaurants in the Boston area" and "our go-to-place for special and memorable dinners."
The address for Ten Tables is 597 Centre St., Jamaica Plain.
