"Difficult to time exact periods of rainfall, but generally anytime between Thursday night and Saturday night looks to feature a chance for rain," forecasters wrote. "Perhaps best chances being Thursday night into early Friday and Saturday afternoon/evening."

Daytime highs on Friday are expected to be between 77 and 82 degrees, according to the weather service.

Though any instability should be marginal, severe weather is unlikely on Friday, forecasters said. The arrival of a cold front could instigate thunderstorms on Saturday, though it is unclear when exactly any storms could appear that day.

Boston and Worcester are likely to see rain showers after 1 p.m., but conditions on Saturday should be sunny in Boston, foggy in Worcester before 10 a.m., forecasters said. Springfield could see showers between 1 and 2 p.m., with a chance for more rain and then thunderstorms after 2 p.m.
