Friendly'shas been serving up smiles for generations, and this weekend, the beloved New England-based restaurant is celebrating its 90th anniversary in the most delicious way.
Founded in 1935 by the Blake Brothers in Springfield, Massachusetts, Friendly's was built on a simple idea: bring people together over good food, friendly service, and, of course, ice cream. What started as a single scoop shop during the Great Depression quickly grew into a full-service family restaurant that became a staple across New England and beyond.
If you grew up with Friendly's, you know the joy of their Happy Ending Sundae. I still remember how special it felt getting one as a kid, the whipped cream, the cherry nose, and those sweet, candy eyes staring back before you dove in spoon-first.

Now, 90 years later, Friendly's is still going strong, and their anniversary happens to fall on National Ice Cream Day . To celebrate, they're hosting a special Founders Weekend Event from Friday, July 18, through Sunday, July 20.

Fan Club Rewards members can get a cone or dish of their favorite flavor for free on July 20.
Non-members can still join the fun with a single scoop cone or dish for just $0.90 from July 18 through July 20.
And the first 90 guests at each location will receive a pair of limited-edition Friendly's sunglasses on July 18.
