Student Happiness Center

In line with the UAE’s strategic directions of promoting happiness and positivity, the College of Pharmacy, Gulf Medical University (GMU), has launched ‘Student Happiness Centre (SHC COP). SHC COP  is a student support service center aiming at enhancing student’s overall well-being. Members of SHC COP provide students with information, advice, guidance, or referral regarding any concerns or complaints.  It also serves as a liaison between students and different college/ university departments.

The “Together We Rise” program at the College of Pharmacy, Gulf Medical University is an innovative peer-assisted learning approach that promotes collaborative learning among students. Through this program, students have the opportunity to learn with and from their peers, enhancing their academic and personal development.

Services provided in the program:

  • Tutoring: Students can become tutors and share their knowledge and expertise with their peers. By tutoring others, students build their confidence and reinforce their understanding of the subject matter.
  • Individualized Learning: As a tutee, you can benefit from one-on-one sessions with your tutor. This personalized approach allows you to learn at your own pace and in a manner that suits your learning style and progress.
  • Soft Skills Development: The program not only focuses on academic learning but also fosters the development of essential soft skills. Through teamwork and collaborative learning, students improve their cooperative skills, promoting a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Informal Peer Sessions: Peer sessions are designed to be informal, creating a relaxed and comfortable setting for learning. Students learn at their own pace and engage in discussions that enhance their understanding.

College of Pharmacy student clubs play an important role in providing students with opportunities for professional development, networking, and community engagement. These clubs offer students the chance to connect with other like-minded individuals, learn about different aspects of the pharmacy profession, and gain practical experience through various events, activities, and initiatives.

At GMU CoP, we have two student clubs:

  • GMU Pharmacy Students’ Association (GPSA) [ Link ]:
    • Pharmacy Education: Publishing newsletters, producing educational videos.
    • Professional Development: Organizing career path webinars, conducting workshops and competitions (e.g. patient counseling, clinical skills, …)
    • Public Health: Organizing public health awareness campaigns (e.g. World Diabetes Day, World Epilepsy Day, World Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Week, Blood Donation Drive)
  • GMU-IVPN Students Club:
    • In partnership with IVPN-Network (Student Chapter), organizing educational webinars for students about recent innovations in pharmacy
    • In  partnership with IVPN-Network, conducting mentorship sessions for our pharmacy students with pharmacy experts from around the world
    • Conducting educational games for pharmacy students from different years.
    • Enhancing the communication and presentation skills for pharmacy students as they take leadership and speaker roles in IVPN-Network teams and webinars.
