Gulf Medical University College of Pharmacy Welcomes High School Students for an Inspiring Open Day Event

On Saturday, May 11 th GMU’s College of Pharmacy hosted an engaging Open Day event, attracting high school students from various corners of UAE. The event aimed to provide a comprehensive orientation about the academic programs offered by College of Pharmacy, specifically the Bachelor of Pharmacy and the Diploma in Pharmacy Technician.

The day commenced with an informative session where students were informed with the curriculum, career opportunities, and the vibrant learning atmosphere at GMU. They gained valuable insights into the pharmacy profession and the pivotal role it plays in the healthcare ecosystem.

The highlight of the event was the hands-on experience sessions, where students actively participated in various activities. They were immersed in a Vaccination Techniques Workshop, exploring essential skills needed for vaccine administration. Furthermore, a drug dispensing role-play exercise allowed students to step into the shoes of a pharmacy technician, gaining practical knowledge of the profession’s responsibilities.

Adding to the excitement, students witnessed Aspirin Manufacturing firsthand in the cutting-edge laboratories of GMU. Guided by experienced faculty members, they observed the intricate process involved in producing this vital medication.

Professor Muhammad Al-Shorbagy, the Dean of College of Pharmacy, commented “It was an absolute pleasure to welcome so many enthusiastic high school students to our Open Day event. Their eagerness and curiosity were truly inspiring. The hands-on sessions were designed to be more than just informative, they are eye-opening experiences. These activities allowed students to explore the very essence of the pharmacy profession, giving a glimpse into the critical role pharmacists play in the healthcare system.”
