"Gozenyama Mountain"
Located in Shirosato Town, Ibaraki Prefecture.
Shirosato Town is almost unknown as a tourist destination. There are a lot of nature, the scenery of small mountains, hills, and rivers. They are all beautiful.
I knew "Gozenyama Mountain" from before, only by name.
However, I have never decided to go there.
The altitude is only 156m. The place is Ibaraki prefecture. I could not expect anything.
Recently, while browsing various things on the Web, I happened to see an article about Gozenyama Mountain.
And, The article was saying that ,despite the altitude of only 156m, it was an incredible treasure trove of nature, with many plants overgrown and 100 kinds of wild birds.
I thought it was a "hype", but I didn't have any plans for the weekend, so I decided to go and check if it was exactly what the article said to kill time.
So how was it? In a nutshell, the conclusion was "Impressive".
The altitude is only 156m.
It's close to the city, and even though it's such a small mountain, it's almost like you've come to 100 famous mountains.
It is overgrown with trees and the ground is covered with many ferns. Birds are singing from all around. The mountain road is also steep, and it goes deeper into the mountain.
I started climbing the mountain after noon, so the sun was tilting on the way. Then, the mountains were getting darker and darker. It's covered with trees, so it gets dark quickly.
There is a place called "Kanetsukido Ruins", and this is the peak of this mountain. The view from here is also wonderful. You can see the Naka River flowing along the foot of the mountain. When the autumn leaves start from now on, the view will be even more wonderful.
Downhill from "Kanetsukido Ruins".
From some time ago, I could hear the sound of mountain streams. The field of view gradually opened, and I went down a gentle slope covered with bright green. The flat land where I went down was also covered with green, but beyond that, there was a place where I could go down to the river.
I didn't know there was such a wonderful mountain in such a place.
A treasure trove of nature.
Worth to go once.
