FCPS high schools annually host SAT School Day, which is offered at no charge to FCPS twelfth graders each October.
The date for SAT School Day exams in school year 2026-27 is Wednesday, October 7. View the testing notification letter below and watch for additional information on this testing opportunity at the beginning of the school year.
NOTIFICATION OF SAT SCHOOL DAY 2026
Dear Parents and/or Guardians of Rising Twelfth Grade Students:
Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) is pleased to announce plans to offer the SAT School Day to students in grade 12 this fall. The test will be administered on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, and will be free of charge to enrolled FCPS twelfth graders. The purpose of this letter is to provide general information about the SAT School Day opportunity. This letter also provides time-sensitive information about testing accommodations for students with disabilities and testing supports for multilingual learners.
The SAT School Day will be administered in a digital format. Students and families can find more information on the College Board Digital SAT Suite of Assessments webpage ( https://satsuite.collegeboard.org/sat/sat-school-day ). Some testing accommodations are administered differently for digital tests than for paper/pencil tests. See below for information about accommodations for students with disabilities.
The SAT School Day is a standardized test that measures mathematics and evidence-based reading and writing. The test focuses on reasoning skills, knowledge, and comprehension. Students who complete the test will receive individual customized score reports, with feedback based on their responses to test questions. The SAT college entrance test is used as one component of the admissions process at some colleges and universities. Additional information about SAT test content can be found on the College Board SAT webpage ( https://satsuite.collegeboard.org/sat/whats-on-the-test ). Students also have access to Khan Academy's free online test preparation ( https://www.khanacademy.org/digital-sat ), which is customized based on their PSAT/NMSQT scores from eleventh grade.
Testing Accommodations for Students with Disabilities
Students with disabilities who have testing accommodations documented in a 504 Plan or an individualized education program (IEP) may be eligible for testing accommodations on the SAT School Day. However, the College Board must approve a formal request for each student.
Testing Supports for Multilingual Learners
Multilingual learners (MLs), defined as English learners under federal and state policy, are eligible for testing supports for the SAT School Day exam. ML supports are temporary and can only be used on the test date for which they have been requested. Enclosures 4-6 and the ML Supports Process for College Board Testing webpage ( https://www.fcps.edu/node/42717 ) provide additional information about the process to request ML testing supports. If requesting ML supports for SAT School Day, the required input and consent forms are due to the school by August 27, 2026.

The accommodations process provides instructions on how to request College Board testing accommodations, including the required input and consent forms (Enclosures 2-3). Testing accommodations are only available for students with a 504 Plan or individualized education program (IEP). To request new or amended College Board accommodations for the October 2026 SAT School Day , return the input and consent forms by August 3, 2026.Please return forms to your student’s high school.
The College Board multilingual learner support process provides instructions for requesting SAT School Day multilingual learner testing supports, including the required input and consent forms (Enclosures 5-6). Multilingual learners, as defined by state and federal policy, are eligible for testing supports for the SAT School Day. Supports are temporary and must be requested each school year. To request Multilingual Supports for the October 2026 SAT School Day exam, return the input and consent forms by August 27, 2026.Please return forms to your student’s high school.
FCPS schools host SAT exams on weekends throughout the year. Saturday exams are open to any student through registration with College Board , including students attending private schools, home instruction, and other school divisions.
