Reading By Third Grade

AREA 1

Outcomes

  • By June 2026, our MLLs will show a 5% decrease in numbers of students in the high risk band as measured by VALLSS from fall to spring.
  • Measuring the same cohort of students, we expect to see a 5% increase in SOL scores compared to this year and 5% fewer students in the high risk band as measured by VALLSS compared to this year.

Strategies

  • Improve integrity of implementation of core curriculum: tailoring instruction to meet student needs aligned with evidence-based literacy instruction (ex. classroom walkthroughs, CT planning, coaching).
  • Use data from formative and summative assessments in the core curriculum to guide instructional decisions during tier 1 and tier 2 reading and writing instruction (ex. data dialogues, CT data discussions).
  • Utilize routines and explicit instruction to intensify phonics and word study instruction in alignment with the core curriculum (ex. ECRI, Lexia, implementation guide resources).

Elementary School Math

AREA 2

Outcomes

  • By June 2026, our MLL student subgroup will show a 5% increase in pass rate as measured by the math SOL.
  • Measuring the same cohort of students, we expect to see a 5% increase in SOL scores compared to this year, 85% of kindergarteners will meet EMAS benchmark, and 5% more 1st and 2nd graders will make annual typical growth as measured by MAP from fall to spring.

Strategies

  • Improve alignment of instructional planning based on analysis of common assessments.
  • Increase teachers' implementation strategies related to Shift 1: from stating a standard or learning target toward communicating the learning intentions
  • Increase students' self-efficacy around the ability to be successful in mathematics.
  • Improve systems for communicating with families about math course pathways through 12th grade, MAP Growth, and other resources to support students' success.

Science

AREA 3

Outcomes

  • By June 2026, our current ML subgroup will increase their pass rate by 5% as measured by the science SOL.

Strategies

  • Utilize a balanced assessment approach, including a variety of formative and summative assessments, to evaluate student progress and inform instruction throughout lessons and units.
  • Increase opportunities for English Language Development through use of embedded strategies during whole group instruction and intentional small group instruction focused on specific student needs.
  • Increase frequency of student learning experiences that are inquiry-based and hands-on through the use of centrally-developed curriculum resources.

Social and Emotional Learning and Wellness

AREA 4

Outcomes

  • By the spring of 2026, 4% more students in grades 3-6 will respond favorably on the emotional regulation topic on the SEL Screener. Students in grades K-2 will decrease the number of discipline referrals......

Strategies

  • MTSS Schoolwide and Site Intervention teams analyze attendance, behavior, and wellness data twice a month to evaluate implementation of Tier 1 SEL/wellness initiatives and identify students in need of Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions. Integrate consistent analysis of data disaggregated by groups (race/ethnicity, SWD, ML, FRM).
