High School On Track
Celebrations
- 29% increase in pass rate for Multilingual Learners students taking the Science SOL. All Subcategories are above 90% of their grade level matching their cohort, and Multilingual Learners (ML) are currently at 89% as of July 29, 2025.
Outcomes
- By June 2026, we will increase the pass rate of the Reading SOL for ML students by 10%.
- By June 2026, we will have a system of ongoing intervention through our new instructional coaches that will show an increase in the Science SOL pass rate for all students from 62% to 70%.
Strategies
- On Time Graduation Coordinator: Designate and/or optimize a school team focused on monitoring the FGI projection, cohort, and student-level data to design plans for testing, credit recovery, and credit accrual.
- INSTRUCTION: Provide opportunities to read and write in disciplinary-specific contexts.
High School Post Secondary
Celebrations
- Students succeeding in CTE Courses grades 9-12 is at 95% based on their final marks. 98% of students enrolled in a Dual Enrollment course have finished with a C- or higher.
Outcomes
- By June 2026, The percentage of students identified and registered for Advanced coursework within our Latino/Hispanic population will increase from 60% to 65%.
- By June 2026, the percentage of students passing in an AP/ DE or CTE finisher class will increase from 76% to 80%.
Strategies
- ACADEMIC ADVISING: Carefully review academic records and cumulative updates for newly-enrolled students to gain 3E experiences (i.e. academic advising for AP/IB/DE, HQWBL, CTE completer and credential, Service Learning)
- INSTRUCTIONAL: Support students in accessing challenging disciplinary texts.
Multilingual Learner (ML) Progress
Outcomes
- By the end of Spring 2026, the percentage of multilingual learners making VDOE WIDA Growth as measured by the WIDA ACCESS will increase by 5%.
Strategies
- Establish and incorporate progress-monitoring routines to analyze the results of the FCPS ELD common assessments or Summit K12 assessments to monitor progress and revise students’ language goals and guide instructional decisions during tier 1 and tier 2 (additional language support).
- Increase the use of language-focused strategies, scaffolds, and supports in content and classroom instruction that match the students’ English language proficiency and promote oral language development and peer to peer interactions.
Chronic Absenteeism
Celebrations
- We are at a 100% completion rate for attendance plans and a 96% completion for Conferences. Our YTD Chronic Absenteeism rate is down to 14.6% which is over the expected 10% goal of 24-25.
Outcomes
- By June 2026, Herndon High School's chronic absenteeism rate will be 12%
Strategies
- Schools share multilingual attendance materials with families throughout the year to educate families regarding the importance of attendance for school success.
Science
Celebrations
- ML Students raised their pass rate by 29%.
Outcomes
- By June 2026, the overall Biology SOL pass rate will improve from 62% to 77% by June 2026.
Strategies
- Increase opportunities for students to develop and apply disciplinary literacy skills of reading, writing, discussing, and thinking in science.
Discipline
Celebrations
- Total incidents were down from 23-24 (1,198) to 24-25 (1,051). The total number of long term suspensions went from 14 in 2024 to 10 in 2025.
Outcomes
- By June 2026, we will see a reduction in the overall long term suspensions ( 10+) by 10% in the Black and Hispanic populations. In 2024-25, 10 of 10 were attributed to Black, Hispanic, and multiple race identified students
Strategies
- Utilize an Multi-tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) framework to establish and organize a schoolwide continuum of proactive behavior and wellness supports which will provide targeted interventions to students at different levels of need.
