Herndon High School Peer Tutoring & Other Academic Supports
Classroom Teachers
Teachers are available during 4th period Flex and frequently afterschool to provide additional support.
Wednesdays and Thursdays are late bus days. Many teachers stay late on these days, but are also available other days of the week. Students and parents should reach out to their teachers directly to set up additional support.
Math Honor Society
- What:Any Math subject peer tutoring
- When:Wednesdays and Thursdays after school (3:00-4:00pm)

- Who to contact:See Mrs. Osborne or Ms. Henry with any questions!
- How:No need to sign up! Snacks provided! Students can bring their work and questions to get help from peer tutors.
English Honor Society and Writing Center
- What:All subjects that involve writing
- When:Monday-Thursday during all lunches and Thursday after school
- Where:Room A139
- Who to contact:See Ms. Rigsby or Ms. Hans with any questions!
- How:Sign up for a session at tinyurl.com/HWC-SignUp or walk in for tutoring.
Science Honor Society
- What:Any Science subject peer tutoring
- When:Thursdays after school
- Where:Room K222

- How:No prior sign up required! Students are welcome to walk in. Flex sign-up is preferred. (“Science Peer Tutoring”)
History Honor Society
- What:Any Social Studies subject peer tutoring
- When:Wednesdays after school
- Where:Room K119

- How:No sign up needed, students can drop in as needed but prefer to sign up first in Flex (“History Tutoring Session”)
Spanish Honor Society

FCPS County-Based Tutoring Resources
Varsity Tutors - Online Tutoring Service
FREE RESOURCE
This includes on-demand chat tutoring, live group classes, essay review, college and career ready resources, and assessment and self-study resources. For the “on-demand chat tutoring,” tutors are matched with students based on their subject of choice and can work through homework problems or a review for an upcoming test with the tutor providing visual problem solving.
FCPS students would automatically be able to access those services through Clever.

- Families who want to hire one of these instructors should make arrangements directly with the tutor. FCPS is not responsible for these arrangements.
- FCPS cannot guarantee the instructors’ licensure status, the content of their private tutoring services, suitability for a particular child, or costs.
- Neither the FRC nor anyone else at FCPS will make recommendations about the relative merits of the instructors.
