The Office of the Chief Experience and Engagement Officer
Provides management oversight to all Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) programs and services related to community relations, family/community engagement, student registration, language services, and the ombudsman. The office is committed to ensuring effective operations to facilitate positive and equitable experiences for Division stakeholders, including students, families, employees, and the community. In addition, this office provides leadership, guidance, and coordination for major system-wide initiatives and serves as a liaison between the Division Superintendent’s Office and various FCPS constituencies, supporting the Division’s goals, regulations, policies, and mission.

Family and School Partnerships (FSP)
Family and School Partnerships provide division-wide support for high-impact family and community engagement. We offer programs, resources, and tools that engage families, schools, and the community to support student success and healthy development. FSP focuses on the capacity building of staff, schools, and families to meet the needs of our diverse community through culturally responsive and inclusive practices and tools. Each school is assigned a family liaison from our office to assist with building a stronger family-school partnership between home and school. Family Information Phone lines are supported in our office for families speaking Amharic, Arabic, Chinese, Farsi, Korean, Spanish, Urdu, and Vietnamese. All families can contact the Family Resource Center for assistance.

Family Resource Center (FRC)
The FCPS Family Resource Center (FRC) offers a welcoming and engaging environment for families, educators, and community members to access information and resources to support the success of all students, including those with learning challenges, special needs, and disabilities. Free webinars, confidential consultations in-person, via phone or Zoom, a 10,000 resource library, and digital materials on our website are available at the FRC. Office of the Ombuds
The FCPS Office of the Ombuds serves as an independent, confidential resource for students, families, community members, and employees who are seeking informal help to answer questions, resolve concerns, and voice complaints regarding FCPS matters. The Office of the Ombuds reports to the Chief Experience and Engagement Officer.
Office of Communications
The primary goal of the Office of Communications (OC) is to foster the reputation of Fairfax County Public Schools as a high-performing school division where students, employees, and families are engaged, inspired, and thrive. Key focus areas include strategic communication planning, digital and visual communications, social media, crisis communications, and media relations.
Office of Community Relations
The Community Relations team provides the following services:
- Community Outreach and Feedback- FCPS is committed to hearing from all of our families. Outreach programs, such as community meetings and webinars, help to involve key stakeholders and ensure feedback from the community.
- Intercultural Engagement - FCPS is committed to cultivating an inclusive school system that celebrates diversity. We prioritize fostering open and honest intercultural communication and engagement, creating a culturally responsive environment. By building trust and establishing robust relationships within our school system and community. Ensuring that every voice is heard and valued throughout the educational journey. - Business and Community Partnerships - FCPS has more than 300 business and community partners working with the school system on eight platforms: mentoring, tutoring, needs-based donations, workforce development (including STEM/STEAM), arts, Get2Green (environmental), health and wellness, and financial gifts.
Student Registration
Student Registration consists of three programs: Student Registration, Language Services, and Student Transfer/Home Instruction. Student Registration manages registration for students new and returning to FCPS, who need additional services and are registered at one of FCPS’ three central student registration sites. Language Services offers translation and interpretation services to school-based and operational staff to facilitate communication with language-minority parents. Student Transfers processes student transfer applications for students to attend a school other than their base school. Home Instruction processes requests from families who wish to teach their children at home, including those requesting religious exemption.
Educate Fairfax

- Educate Fairfax is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit education foundation that builds partnerships and raises funds to support students, educators, and schools within FCPS.
- Our Focus Areas are:
- Kids In Need/Collect for Kids: We provide school supply kits, personal hygiene items, and other essentials for students in need.
- Educate Fairfax Grants: FCPS educators will use these grants to provide students equitable access to innovative learning experiences and opportunities that align with the FCPS Strategic Plan’s goals and measures.
- Innovators Fund:This fund assists businesses and individuals in making strategic investments in unique experiences that allow students to innovate, create, and explore within a classroom or school setting, preparing them for college, careers, or the workforce.
- Signature Events:
- Superintendent’s State of our Schools: Educators, business, and community members convene to hear an overview of the current state of our school system and a forum to explore future innovative approaches ensuring excellence, equity, and opportunity for every student.
- FCPS Alumni Hall of Fame:This hall recognizes FCPS alumni who have made outstanding contributions to their profession or community.
- FCPS Honors/FCPS Cares: Recognition of FCPS employees for going above and beyond to help others and show they care.
Other Ways We Support
- Giving Campaigns: We also work with many FCPS schools to create and support initiatives for school improvement, such as outdoor classrooms, lending libraries, and memorial fundraisers.
- Alumni Engagement: Join our alumni and friends page and engage with us for your reunions, news and events, and alumni stories, and support us as we impact future generations.
- Donate to your School of Choice: Have your alumni, business partners, community, and individuals donate directly to your school of choice .
MyPDE
MyPDE is a comprehensive solution for professional development and employee performance evaluations for FCPS. It is the central repository for all FCPS professional development and training, which includes a library of custom-developed courses and thousands of industry-leading courses and resources provided by SKillsoft. The system provides a structure for a fully online process for all employee performance evaluations, which may include goal setting, self-assessment, and both mid-year and summative assessments.

FCPS Academy Program
The FCPS Academy Course Program provides a wide array of professional learning to contracted instructional staff, enhances knowledge and skills aligned with division priorities, and supports the comprehensive professional development system serving to develop and retain a premier workforce in FCPS. Through coursework, participants gain competencies and work toward professional goals and practices that positively impact student achievement.

Out-of-School Support
Employs teachers who work before or after standard school hours to provide instruction to students who cannot attend school for various reasons (illness, injury, or disciplinary misconduct). Our teachers provide individual instruction to these students either virtually or in person, typically within the student’s homes or in a local library. This work is a flexible and rewarding part-time option for teachers. OSS hires homebound teachers throughout the school year. The hourly pay for the upcoming school year is $50 per hour.
School Psychology Services
School Psychologists positively impact the academic and social-emotional development of all students by providing mental health services that build resiliency, life competencies, and good citizenship.
School Social Work Services
School Social Workers are assigned to support every school in FCPS and work with families, students, teachers, and administrators to promote student academic achievement and mental wellness. Students are referred to school social workers for various reasons, including social, emotional, or behavioral difficulties, family needs, or assessments related to special education. School social workers seek to ensure equitable educational opportunities, that students are mentally, physically, and emotionally present in the classroom, and promote respect and dignity for all students. School social workers provide multi-tiered prevention and intervention services to students and their families, including individual, group, and family counseling. They also provide professional development to school staff to support trauma-informed classrooms and school communities. Follow us on X @SWS_FCPS .
